I can believe it, as I sit here typing a note to a forum.

I'd go read that article Dave, but I'm too busy surfing forums.

I think it is addictive. I don't normally worry about such things, since my interest will wane eventually. And it isn't like I'm not meeting obligations. I don't have that many, since I'm retired. But there are other things I'd like to get to.

I'm retired and live in a small ranch type home that is very easy to keep neat. as everthing is very well organized. This leaves me with plenty of time to do the things I find enjoyable. There are days when I will spend 2 - 3 hours on the Internet -but- it all depends on interesting topics being discussed.
I prefer talking on Message Boards and I am a member of 3 of them. Some days, "nice" people are on the Boards discussing new and interesting things which gain my attention for a few hours. Other days, the "trolls" are out with their insults and degrading remarks. Those are the days when I find other things to do rather than sitting behind this computer.

I've been doing this stuff...message boards, chat rooms, etc, for 14 years. It's nice to turn it off for a few days at times! But, it's also nice that it's here. In many instances, the forums, chats, etc, are like the local coffee house. You know the people, and you look forward to 'seeing' them every day. Sometimes they piss you off, but, hey...everyone pisses everyone off at least once in a while, right? ;-) Also, over the last 14 years, I've met many....I'd say at least 75 percent of my internet friends, so they've become more than just anonymous people to me...they are real. I hope to someday meet ALL my internet friends!

As most of you know, usually I use the world wide internet machine to promote businesses and events...sometimes, my alter gets ahold of me and voices an opinion or two. I've only been checking this new technology out for about 5 years. I hate it, but get sucked in regularly. I usually prefer to deal face to face with folks. Luckily, I personally don't have one of these new-fangled machines of outerspace typewriters at home, just at my jobs...

A good forum is sort of like Cheers -- everybody knows your name.
For some reason, I always end up being Norm.
PAUL: How's the world treating you, Mr. Peterson? NORM: Like a baby treats a diaper.
