I would have to say you are looking west on Erie Blvd, and looking at the bank in the parking lot of the Westgate plaza, and the McDonalds in West Rome. I see the concrete plant in the background. The left turn lane in the lower portion of the picture indicates that you are at the intersection of West Dominick St and Erie Blvd. Am I correct?? I hate to be right and bring the thread to conclusion with the first post though.

I think you're spot on, Clipper. It appears to be on the south side of Erie Blvd. West, across from the T-intersection with West Dominick St, looking west.

Why put it there? See that wooded lot beyond McDonald's? They're hoping to catch the appearance of a new Walmart there.

I think a lot of it has to do with how much effort the Earth Science teacher can talk the maintenance staff into. Click on any state. Some are good, some aren't. www.instacam.com/find.asp

Ah that explains it- Wouldn't it be cool if Rome could blanket the city (or at least the routes that I drive to go to work) so we can see what the traffic looks like. Then again it would also be cool if they could load up a B52 with a whole bunch of 50 Dollar Bills and drop them over my House (And it would cost just as much)
