Indian Forces Battle Gunmen in Effort to Rescue HostagesGood summary of what's happening in this morning's Washington Post.MUMBAI, NOV 28- Indian police commandos took control of the Oberoi Hotel and were rooting out a small number of armed attackers at the Taj Mahaj Palace & Tower Hotel early Friday evening, while a huge explosion at a nearby Jewish outreach center indicated that efforts to rescue at least eight hostages there were still underway. All day, scores of hostages were evacuated from the two five-star hotels, some in tourist coach buses. Police said they had defeated the militants at the Oberoi and evacuated everyone from inside, while gun battles and hostage rescues were continuing inside the Taj. "An officer in India's intelligence bureau ... said that based on interrogation of one injured terrorist, who was shot at Hemant Karkare, they suspect the Mumbai attacks were a Lashkar-e-Toiba operation, a Pakistan-based Muslim group." Gee, I wonder if the interrogation used torture. We should alert Sean Penn.www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/28/AR2008112800992.html?hpid=topnews
