DO NOT SEND Christmas cards to Walter Reed. They will throw them out. They are not allowed to deliver any mail to the soldiers there unless it is to a specific soldier. Something to do with terrorist threats I guess. The Red Cross however, will accept Christmas cards sent to them which they will pass on to the soldiers. The address for them is:
Holiday Mail for Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
They have to be postmarked no later than 12/10. Do not include your e-mail address or return addresses ( I don't know why) and do not include photos of yourself.

You're welcome. I read it in one of my Dad's military newsletters that he gets (retired Air Force) and I think I saw it on TV too. If you hear something different, let me know!

Hi Countrygal, called Walter Reed Hospital myself and you are correct. All due to security reasons, which I can fully understand. This is what they gave me: The Red Cross P.O. Box 5456 Capital Heights, MD 20791-5456 Att: Holiday Mail for Heros Countrygal, is it MD or MC I may have gotten that wrong taking the info down. Let me know before I send it out to others by email. The Walter Reed will be emailing me in the next few days with more info about the cards and other things we can do for our soliders Thank you for your help. I appreciate all.

Hi Countrygal, The woman I talked to on the phone yesterday is Deborah Colley, who is Executive Assistant to the Commanding General of Medical Command. We had a very nice conversation and she is a sweetheart. She sent me a very nice email explaining all about the cards and what they're attempting to accomplish this year. They are planing going through the Red Cross (because of security reasons) to reach out to not just our "wounded warriors" but all service members, their families and also our Veterans. Their goal hoping to reach is 1,000,000. What a wonderful effort on "their part" and hopefully on "our part" we can help them accomplish just that and many more. So, all that read this topic please take one card and sent it to this address: The Red Cross "Holiday Mail Call" P.O. 5456 Capital Heights, MD 20791-5456 On the front of the envelope do an "attention" to who you would like to receive the card (a wounded solider, a solider, a soldier's family or a Veteran.) Deadline for them to receive the cards is Dec. 10. Lets help them reach their goal and show our support to all involved who are serving (have served) us and our country. Thanks y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS: If you need any other info you can email me at, bobbbiez@yahoo.com, and I will forward all to you.
