I can picture my grandparents sitting down to listen to one of the recordings. I'm sure they didn't. But if they had, I doubt the content would have eclipsed the novelty. Asked an hour later what Taft or Bryan said, my grandmother would have looked dense and my grandfather might have sputtered something he read of the campaign in the The Observer or The Herald-Dispatch.
