Oneida County Legislator Larry Tanoury Jr. should refrain from his continuous drama and political antics, legislative meeting after meeting. He should take the opportunity to ingest the principle of the legislative process, as well as learning the county charter.
Now he has a problem with the appointments to the county Youth Advisory Board by county Executive Anthony Picente. Tanoury said county appointments should tap into a wider spectrum of people. As the representative of a diverse district, that is part of Tanoury’s job. But in fairness to Picente, any time there are advisory board openings, legislators are notified by their leadership of these vacancies.
Respective committees must approve submitted recommendations, before they go to the county Board of Legislators for a vote. There is a process already in place, but Tanoury has no intention of adhering to that legislative process.
His latest accusation is unfounded, politically motivated and very divisive. Tanoury’s unproductive behavior is a disservice to the people that elected him.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, to learn that one of our legislators may be involved in politics. What next, gambling at the Turning Stone?
I may not always agree with Tanoury Jr., but the pot does need occasional stirring.
Maybe his "antics" will get more people interested in the legislative process. I for one had no idea how advisory board appointment are made.

Imagine that! A legislator who is politically motivated? We need to get back to the days when all our legislators were interested in was increasing their personal wealth and lining up jobs for their cousins.

I also don't ALWAYS agree with Larry either, but this word "divisive". Isn't that something that has been needed for a long time? Doesn't that mean to divide opinion into two schools of thought and POSSIBLY come to a FAIR resolution/
I guess the alternative would be for Larry Jr to become one of the SHEEPle that say yes sir and no sir to the old school crap shoveleers that have had control and had their way for way too long.

Would that Joe Griffo, Roanne Destito and Mike Arcuri would begin to stop "respecting the institution" of their respective houses and start representing the people instead.

You know you're doing something right when the opposition starts slamming you for it. This from a guy that lives up the street and I saw at my door only during election season. His record spoke for itself and the people decided it was time for a change. Good job Larry!!!!

I second that, Larry! Keep up the good work. You're doing something right and the fatsos (politically speaking) are getting scared!

The Hendricks dude did so much for the district that he represented, that I had forgotten who he was even, and had to ask Ralph. Early on I became enthused with Larry Jr's agenda and his campaign, and forgot that this idiot that he was running against even existed.
This is just some more rhetoric and bullshit from the "county machine" and using a sore loser to spread the manure. Let's all emphasize the "LOSER" in capital letters. Those of you who live in that district now have a true WINNER representing your interests, and the louder his protests against wrongdoing get, the louder the defenses of the backroom bums will get.
Keep up the good works Larry. WE hear you loud and clear. Soon the whole county will begin to understand your anger, and will begin to see through the smoke screen and BS going on in the legislative branch of the county.
Hopefully in the next election there will be more of the backroom bums sent packing, and Mr Hendricks will have company at the loser's table in the coffee shop in the mornings. They can all sit around and talk about being "retired" legislators, when those of us in the know will be aware that they weren't retired, they were put out with the trash for their trashy antics. Not "retired", but dumped, defeated, exiled, tossed, run out of office, exposed, and shamed for their misdeeds. That is the true nature of why they will be in the coffee shop with Hendricks instead of in the legislative offices of the county.

With respect for 'concerned' I think we need MORE people like Larry. I'm sure one day he may come up with something I disagree with but I think so far he's done an excellent job, his whole approach is different... he is approachable and open to discussion, and doesn't seem afraid to 'scatter the flies'.
