Just when I thought I was getting ahead of the game at my age..... From Ireland's Belfast Telegraph: "Vatican lists new mortal sins" Monday, March 10, 2008 Pollution and drugs are on a list of new mortal sins produced by the Vatican. Others include genetic manipulation and social and economic injustice. Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti said in an interview published by the Vatican's daily newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, that known sins increasingly manifest themselves as behaviour that damages society as a whole. ``While sin used to concern mostly the individual, today it has mainly a social resonance, due to the phenomenon of globalization,'' he said, who heads the Apostolic Penitentiary, a Vatican body that issues decisions on matters of conscience and grants absolutions. Article continues at: www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/world-news/article3503319.ece### Damn! (No pun intended.) When I dumped last season's gas from the lawn mower down behind the barn last fall, I never stopped to consider whether it was venial or mortal.

Sh--, guess I'll have to make another confession. I better go to a different church though. Afraid my priest won't be able to handle anymore.

Let's not try to drive home the 'thou shalt not kill' commandment anymore. Nope. Now it's 'thou shalt not dispose of your McDonalds wrapper improperly' commandment. When will the insanity on this planet ever stop amazing me?

I wonder if Monsignor Gianfranco has considered being a "busy body" in that list.
Ha should say a few extra Hail Marys himself.

Yep Clipper, Father V., always has a smile on his face when I around. In fact, yesterday at Mass, he gave himself away when he told another parishioner that I just love making people smile. ;D Wonder what he meant?

It kinda boggles my mind to think the Vatican has a job position that's responsible for keeping the mortal sin list up to date. Dave, did they mention any mortal sins that have dropped off the list lately?

Isn't masturbation a 'mortal sin'? If so, I don't know anyone who isn't going to hell!
