Ok, you guys all know that I'm not a church going type of person, however I'm helping a pastor of a local church down here set up a blog. He's a nice guy and if I were looking for a church I'd probably check his out. Anyway, could you please pop over to the new blog and take a look at what I've done so far and give me your opinions? Thanks. Also...I think he wants some help with his main website, which the blog links to. I don't know how to design websites...anyone feel like helping? ;-) The address for the church blog is: reedyforkcommunitychurch.blogspot.com/

I'm not a big blog fan myself, but the website looks pretty good to me. It's set up very nice. About the only thing I would suggest would be a photo of the church itself on the Home page, but overall I think it looks good.

Looks great, Kim! Lots of photos are always best. I agree with Ralph about the website, nice and bright and open.

Thanks!
Actually, the picture there of the welcome sign IS the church...they currently meet at the elementary school. Eventually, I think, they want to build their own church building, but for now the school works.

I like the blog Kim. I am surprised though that a church is allowed to meet in a school building. Only here in the south would such a thing be allowed. I have no objection to it, but I am sure there are those that do, haha.
The quality of the photos, and the format or arrangement of the items on the page, is great. You are just a technical genius, lolol.

Yeah, I thought it was weird that they meet in a school, too, but I suppose as long as they pay rent...as long as the tax payers aren't funding it, that it's fine. I don't have a problem with it.
I didn't take any of those photos...I stole them from the main site! But I AM a genius. ;-) Personally, I like the chat box. I hope people use it. So far, though, not many people even know about that blog.

Exactly! The crap of separation of church and state in our schools gets a little overzealous now and again. I am a believer that if they want to have a moment of prayer in a school, that it should be permitted. Just have a moment of silence, to be used for prayer or simply silence and meditation to begin the day.
The issue of God in the pledge of allegiance is also crap. If you don't believe in God, leave that phrase out when you recite the pledge. If you want to say "one nation under Allah or jehovah" have at it.
If you don't like the "In God We Trust" on our money, don't accept any of it. Use a debit card for all of your business.
People simply make a mountain of a mole hill with garbage like that. Hey, if the church is paying rent, it is putting money in the coffers of the school system, and is relieving some of the burden off of taxpayers.
It is all so frivolous. What the hell, I don't care muslims make their call to prayer from a cell phone tower on top of city hall! No! Simply a silly restrictive bunch of crap, by those that make a living off the civil rights issues, and when they run out of something to crusade for, they have to make something up.
The ACLU was once an admirable organization, now they are a pain the anus of America.

The is no separation of church and state in the Constitution. There is freedom of religion. That has been misinterpreted to mean freedom FROM religion by many.

I think the schools are more concerned about having to rent out their facilities to ANY religion, not yours, if it's somewhat mainstream. If they rent to the Methodists, they have to also honor requests from Hare Krishna, the Rastafarians and the Zoroastrians. And probably Dave The Prophet and his Stripper Angels, too.

I remember with fondness Imus' Rev. Billy Sol Hargis routine. He started it on the radio back in the early 1970's, recorded silly songs with a gospel group ("I Don't Care If It Rains or Freezes") and eventually put together an act and took it around to various NY City nightclubs. Back then:

Where do ya meet and what time Dave. I haven't found a church that held my interest in a few years. Maybe this is it.

To be perfectly candid, I'm still recruiting the girls. And I'm not having any luck. "Be an angel" has taken on new meaning. I approached it in a organized fashion and began by asking girls in their twenties. Tonight, I'm on my way to the Senior Citizen's Center.

Hey, maybe at the senior center, you will recruit someone that I can keep up with. Just pick the "youthful ones" under 70. Make sure that they can dance.
