My Mom always bought a fruitcake around Xmas. They get a bad rap but I kind of like them but haven't had one in years.

I bought one last year from a monastary.. i/2 lb fruitcake and 1/2 pound fudge. The fudge and the fruitcake I did not like at all. Wrote to the company and they refunded me my money. I didnt ask for a refund but it was nice getting my money back. I guess Im not really a fruitcake person but theyve been sending me a catalog for ever and someone on here raived about so I relented last year at Christmas. The fudge on the other hand was so sickening sweet and the texture was not like the kind Ive had in the past that I did like.

I bought the fruitcake from another place called Monks Bread but they have gotten to expensive. I bought a one pound fruitcake through Monastery Greetings and another Trappist community will make this one and I await to savor its goodness. I don't like fudge so did not but that but got some lemon cookies and assortment of Monks jellies and jams which are not very sweet at all better that what I get at grocery stores.
