Today would have been Kathy's 85th birthday. It was a hard day for me. People were calling to make sure I was ok but with each phone call it all came back and left me crying, lonesome, and lost without her.
It was just a preview of what holidays are going to be like in the future. She always loved Christmas and Easter and we always had company over for dinner or went out with someone. The house was always decorated and she was always in the holiday spirit.
I bailed out and went shopping, bowled a few games in Johnson City with my bowling partner and went for Chinese with her and her mom.
We had just refilled her prescription for Trazadone sleeping pills so I am going to take one and go to bed. I am not big on taking medications but I am going to ask my PC doc for a prescription for a mild sleeping medication and an anti-depressant. Took some of the Trazadone for a few nights after she died. It is pretty mild and just takes the edge off enough for me to get to sleep. Normally I have been taking a Benedryl tablet at bedtime and that puts me to sleep.

Hang in there, Clipper. I can't say I know how you feel because we all deal with grief differently. But I think one way to deal with it is to try to stay busy, keep your mind occupied & lean on friends & family to help you when things get rough. It WILL get better with time. Keep the Faith.
I also take Benadryl when I can't sleep. It works & it's not habit forming with no side effects.

I am ok today I guess. I got up, showered and went to church. After church I stopped at Ace Hardware and bought a roll of blue painters tape, came home and put the first coat of paint on the shameful looking door that hasn't been opened in many many years. It was filthy and nasty looking. It is taking two coats to make it look ok.
I am going to order a new storm door and I don't feel like messing with the large number of little screws that go into the molding and trim around a storm door so I will pay for someone to install it. I can't believe that the cheapskates put a 30 inch door in a 32 inch opening and shimmed it out from the casing with an unpainted two by four. I should have replaced it long ago but since we didn't use it we just locked it and it hasn't been opened in probably 20 of the 22 years we have been here. The door will probably cost me twice what it would have 20 yrs ago.

I installed a new full glass storm door for the front entrace here & it cost me over $200. Of course, I had to assemble it. Now that same door is probably more then $300. Oh, I had to buy the handle seperately which added another $50 or so.
