It is going to get up to about 78 but when I woke up this morning it was only in the mid sixties in the house and only 46 outside. With the blood thinners I get cold fairly easily. When I got up I popped the thermostat up to 73 for about 20 minutes to take the chill off and when I took the dog out I wore my winter jacket.
My neighbor and I waited until after dark last night and then went across the road to where the yellow jacket nest was located in a golf ball sized hole at the base of a walnut tree. I poured a planter's peanut jar full of gasoline down the hole, waited a few seconds and threw a match in it. Between the gas and the nest material we had a little tiki torch like flame burning from the hole for about 20 minutes before it finally burned out. I was just over there to check things out and kicked dirt over the hole and tamped it in. No bees.

We are in the rainy season with temps like mid October. It is crazy. Next week 80's.

It has cooled off enough that I am wearing jeans instead of shorts today.
