Two months ago mine was installed. My bill tripled and all I run is an air conditioner and TV plus the idiots below me love to cook for the two of them and two other relatives who live here and they use the oven from early morn to 6PM. I am ready to go to war!!!
Anyone understand how these new meters work.

I understand how they are supposed to work, and an increase of that magnitude does not sound reasonable. If I remember correctly, you moved in the past year. Is it possible that billing was done based on an estimate based on a time when the apartment was vacant or something crazy like that. It is certainly worth making a request for a review and a letter of explanation.

Normally it is around $10. to $20.

Everbody's bill is skyrocketing. I'm expecting ours this week. The reason for the "smart meters", which NG is not telling anyone is eventually we'll be subjected to "peak demand" billing rates which means if you use power during peak demand times they're going to charge you more per kw hour. Hence, smart meters so they can track what we're using & at what time.
Wait for it.

I have previously expressed my opinion on peak pricing. I still think it makes more sense than any option. Energy pricing will go up. We need to find the least painful options.
