Still on the Fence

My PC was so slow yesterday, just to send an email. I had to scan a copy of a form for my car insurance to mail to them.
Took about 20 minutes to get the scanner to load. First had to restart the PC for all the updates sitting there first. Then had to open browser to get to my mail. And finally create and send my pdf file. Whole process wasted at least 2 hours of my time.

Im on the fence still deciding PC or Lap Top.. i can call Dell but they or anyone else that sells usually are more interested in selling me something more than just helping me decide. So more research on line which takes up time.
Decisions decisions. Im not a person that makes them at the drop of a hat.

I bought a new laptop but have not hooked it up yet since I now need to get WiFi since it does not have the rj 45 capabilities. Go figure......I still have to set up my tablet. I was planning on going to Liberty Bell Park since it has free wifi to set it up and this heat wave hit. Can't win. Maybe I can do it while at Wynn Hospital July 7th for a biopsy with my luck there wifi will be down!!

Barb just bought me a new laptop. My old one had a cracked case with the crack gradually spreading. The setup went really well and all the old files and settings ported over easily. The only problem so far is remembering to put in a PIN rather than a PW at startup.

PB, you need a WIFI router set up in your apartment. If you set up your device anywhere else it won't work once you get home. And I wouldn't trust a public wifi connection for anything other then surfing the web. We had to replace our router a couple months ago, bought from WM for less then $50 & it works better then the old one. Setup is a breeze.

PB, how do you connect to internet at home?

CB I use Spectrum which is hard wired to my laptop. This laptop I am on right now does not use wifi. I had wifi at first but got rid of it for I had no use for it. Now with the new laptop and tablet I will have to get wifi. I would rather buy a wifi router that is compatible with my Spectrum router. My speed is 300mbps but with this laptop I am using which is over 15 years old my speed is much slower. A Spectrum tech who came to my apartment when I was having problems said the slowness is because of this laptop and recommended a new one.

I have had a Netgear14 router for several years. It is compatible with Spectrum and has worked well. I am sure that the newer Netgear routers would also work well with Spectrum internet. The newer models have more range than the one I have, but even the one I have allows me to have wifi out in the detached garage or in the carport. It gives me better range than the Belkin router it replaced.
