I've always heard how biased the OD was, but simply can't believe the extent to which it really is.
Let me say first that at no time whatsoever did I "interupt" the County Executive. I called a "Point of Order" which is supposed to give me the floor immediately in order to address a parliamentary question. The Chairman of the Board totally disregarded the point of order (which is a violation of Robert's Rules). I attempted to make the arguement that the CE does not have the right to INTERUPT a debate in the legislature. He does have the priviledge of the floor under rule #25 of the rules of the board. However, "Privledge of the Floor" is a specified time at the begining of the meeting. He does NOT have the right to unilaterally interupt a debate. Do you ever see George Bush storm onto the floor of Congress to argue with members of Congress? No, because it's not allowed.
The point is that the OD has yet again taken a chance to hammer two Democrats in order to protect their Republican friends. I won't stand for it. They have a right to disagree with me, or hammer me on my votes. But they DON'T have the right to lie about what took place. Never did I have an outburst. The CE was screaming from the podium at me, the Chairman was trampling all over my rights as a legislator and breaking the rules, and somehow they find a way to make it look like I was the one that lost it.
I will post the entire debate on my website as soon as I can, and you can decide for yourselves what really happened.
