I did my normal mowing the last 1/3 of the lawn, completed the weed eating, dead-headed the wilted blooms from the rose bushes, swept the shop floor, hosed the driveway, and then ran across town to get 8 pieces of the best fried chicken in town, along with a 6 piece cajun spiced livers appetizer, home made rolls, and home made mac and cheese. Yum! Their mac and cheese is creamy and delicious and the livers are cooked just right, and just the right amount of spice to give them a touch of heat.
I am fixing to get in the recliner and prepare for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

I remember the last place I lived I got yelled at for dead heading the spent blooms of various flowering plants. I tried to explain why but ignorance abounds in many a very low income folks and those who lord over them.

My neighbor said to me the other day- "you need to stop mowing, you're making us all look bad"! Lol. I told him that's what happens when you retire!
Tomorrow, I have to mow & weedeat again. Lol

This cycle of mowing, raining the next day, a couple hot sunny days and it is necessary to mow again. I raised the deck a bit this year so it begins to look a bit ragged a bit quicker. I am pretty fussy about keeping the lawn looking freshly groomed. Last summer with the heat and dry weather the lawn just about burned up because I was keeping it cut too short for the 90 degree, dry and sunny days.
Kathy thinks once a week would be adequate but in many cases letting it go for 7 days leaves me with too many clippings when I do mow. I enjoy mowing but hate weed eating

I definitely agree with letting it get a bit longer in dry weather (untidy is a much better look than dead). Dry has not been a problem this spring.

I keep it cut at 3" which helps to cut down on crabgrass germinating. I put down a preemergent but I think I waited too long as I've seen some of it sprouting. I also have some spots that are thinning despite the cool rainy weather this spring. Damn grubs again I bet.
Surprisingly, the garden is doing well. I already have blossoms on some of my hot cherry peppers & one tomato plant.

The grass up here in the Mills grows very fast. I feel sorry for Keith it take a long time to cut all the grass surrounding the apartment complex. He just gets started an someone has an emergency like a clogged toilet etc. Never ends.
