The VA sent me electric conducting socks and a small tens unit that hooks to them. I do a 60 minute treatment at 50 volts, twice a day. You don't fell the electrical impulses at all and thus far it has worked, but I didn't have the sharp shooting pains everyday any way. Time will tell. It hasn't stopped the burning in my toes.
I have to spray my feet with a mist of a conducting spray, put on the sock and attach the tens unit that straps around the calf with a velcro strap. They say it could take up to 8 weeks to be effective so I guess we will see.

The VA is moving right along for me. I just got a call from Hanger Orthotics to come in at 9:30 on the 31st to be fitted for diabetic shoes and inserts. I am truly impressed with the care that we get as veterans in the area.

Have you tried alpha lipoic acid for your neuropathy? Betty had what they call "stocking & gloves" neuropathy, the tingling/burning sensation all the time in her feet/toes. She had a script for it, but after she started started the ALA she quite it and stayed with just the ALA.

I will ask my doc about it. With all the other health conditions my doc wants me to avoid over the counter stuff and herbal supps unless I run it by him due to the fact that I have had some serious allergic reactions to more than one medication.
I hope he will ok it. I would like nothing better than to find relief for the pain in my feet. It will never go away completely but any level of relief is welcome.
