I saw no reason to attend any meetings. Perhaps I should have since I didn't understand one of the arguments, why would a hotel increase the number of homeless in the village?

I don't see how it could increase the number of homeless unless the government fills it with homeless people and undocumented aliens.

That was the only answer I could come up with as well. I really don't know anything about local hotel availability. The only out of town guests we get stay with us.

Oneida County DSS houses the homeless & people with addiction problems etc in local hotels. There's a couple of them on N. Genesse St which are for the most part not the most inviting place to stay if you're visiting the area. I wouldn't.

Does the state use places like the Best Western on North Genny for that type of housing?

The last time we checked the Best Western was still decent. The Red Roof and the two other motels by the Thruway are filled with unsavory characters. We stayed at both the Best Western and the Red Roof several times over the past 22 yrs. We did stay one year at the Red Roof behind Denny's in Herkimer. That was a pretty decent place and was managed by a guy I went to high school with so we got a great price. Unfortunately with Kathy having to use a walker and the place not having and elevator we had to move on. The last time we were up there we stayed at the LaQuinta in Verona. Now that is closed and being remodeled into a more expensive and upscale brand.
Next trip we will probably stay at Hampton Inn and Suites in New Hartford. There are not many pet friendly hotels in the area. When I google pet friendly hotels I get a choice between Hampton Inn and Red Roof in N. Utica. I don't even think the dog would like Red Roof, haha.
