Ive been putting bread out for the sparrows that come visit me. Dont do it often. Only when they stop by and let me know they want to know where the bread is. This morning decided to look up if its okay to feed them bread. Answer …big NO. Says there is no nutritional value and can lead to starvation or other conditions not good for them. So no more bread for my feather friends. I was feeding them bird seed but that attracted pigeons. And I dont want pigeons on my balcony. They are dirty little varments and poop all over everything. Cant have that.

I have a few large bluebirds in my backyard along with sparrows and finches and hummingbirds and cardinals . Then there is Mr. Squirrel and his friend Mr. Rabbit. Also a good sized deer with her fawn. I even saw a groundhog and of course the little chipmunk's. We are not aloud to feed then which is a good thing as you have said.

Today I had a little red headed house finch pecking about outside the back door. When we moved here we had a huge spruce tree on the corner of the driveway that grew to large and stuck out into the driveway. I hung a finch feeder near it and filled it with finch seed. It attracted yellow gold finches, green female gold finches, red finches, and grosbeaks. This is the first year in many years that I have seen finches around. I may hang a finch feeder. We feed hummingbirds and I have two nesting pairs of bluebirds in the bluebird houses in the back yard. I wouldn't mind feeding finches. I DON'T want to feed those larger birds that strafe my car and try to nest on my windshield wiper. I had never seen anything like the recent experience with a pair of robins that insisted on pecking at the roof of the car and actually started to nest on the wiper blade. thank goodness they have moved on.

Those pair of robins were looking for a mobile home I bet.

Those pair of robins were looking for a mobile home I bet. I am very fussy about my vehicles. Standing in the kitchen window and watching a robin peck at the paint on the roof was really upsetting. The car is ceramic coated and very shiny. It may have been pecking at it's own reflection. Thank goodness they decided to find a different place to nest.
