I just walked into the kitchen and was greeted by a counter top loaded with a variety of ingredients and a recipe box. Kathy finds great pleasure in creating wonderful and delicious things in that kitchen and it is one of the ways she enjoys her leisure time and relaxes.
Today the project is to make a batch of perogies. It is usually a time consuming process that takes her hours, but the outcome is perogies to die for. Today she is making some with kraut, some a Ukrainian meat filling of onions and beef, and some with potato and cheese. When she spends that much time making them she always makes it worthwhile by making several dozen so we have some to vacuum pack and freeze.
Yesterday she made a batch of chocolate chip cookies and a devil's food cake with chocolate frosting to give to my sister.
It is no wonder that I am overweight. Just the smells coming from the kitchen on any given day are enough to make it impossible to walk by the cookie jar without grabbing a cookie or two.

Put the coffee on. Chocolate chip cookies are the best. The Keurig is always plugged in and the cookie jar is seldom empty. My sister is like a little kid. When she comes she often tip toes straight to the cookie jar to peek and help herself to a cookie or two. I love Kathy's chocolate chip cookies. She puts a lot of chips in them. She also makes cookies with a combo of white chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. When she makes those, they don't last long. Ya can't walk by the cookie jar without grabbing one.
