At 4'x2' it's probably good for herbs but not for a vegetable garden. Maybe as a flower bed. I plant tomatoes more then a foot apart so they don't overcrowd each other & for air circulation.

I never planted tomatoes more than a foot apart. That is good to know. I had good yield but I think it was 9 or 10 inches apart. I didn't have much room to begin with maybe about the size of a one care garage. I also put in zucchini.

One foot tall? You will still be bending over to tend to it, and I had a raised bed for just one year. 4'x8'x2'. The lumber to build it and the cost of the dirt to put in it cost more than I would have paid fort the veggies that first year. The second year I planted swiss chard, spinach, leaf lettuce and, some radishes. Last fall I emptied the soil into a pile in the very back corner of the yard and leaned the frame up against the back of the garage. It is doubtful that I will be using it again.
The one pictured would great herb garden. We have dome herbs growing near the back door. Just a clump of basil, a bit of rosemary, and parsley. Kathy has slowed down on her canning. A few years back I made the mistake of planting dill under the kitchen window. It grew up in front of the window and was ugly. Looked like tall weeds. :0
