I do not understand this. The management of Cooper wants the Post Office to pay for and install a new door knob and lock on a door for a mailroom that gives access to the mailboxes. The door is part of the building managed by Cooper not the Post Office. I guess no one in that building will ever get mail!!!
Low income people are treated poorly. I once heard a higher up in an organization say to a client that was complaining about the food at lunch one day by saying " you once were eating out of dumpsters so do not complain about the quality of this food ".

Maybe it is time for a go fund me page to raise the money to pay for a new lock. They would probably make hundreds of dollars, driven by simple sympathy among outsiders. I would be tempted to donate $10 although I am don't trust many of those go fund me pages.

The mgmt company and owners are Millennia, this is a multi billion ( with a B) total shit ass company that is run by some Mafioso from Chicago. They have buildings ...and major lawsuits... all over the country. They crap the bed every night. Here they own Margaret Knamm, Mary Buck, the Grey Apts and many others. Google them if you are bored. You will be disgusted. If disabled people can't get their mail that may be an infringment on their rights under the ADA. I think that the city should start looking into this. I wouldn't depend upon the Post Office to do anything this year or the next. Many people receive time stamped benefit reply/recert letters/ and or meds by mail. People depend on these things. Someone could die. Benefits could be lost or discontinued, such as driver's liscence renewals, insurance renewals, EBT, medical insurance, any number of situations.

I was thinking that the residents might do a go fund me page or at least try to collect a little from each resident to get the situation corrected. My reasoning goes along the lines of what you mention can be the collateral damage. Cancelled life or health insurance for an elderly person could be catastrophic. Cancel their life insurance and who the hell is going to sell life insurance to an 89 yr old with health issues. Same goes for a health insurance if that is what pays for their medications. Have their car insurance canceled and the troopers will be at the door to collect their license plates.

A lot of public housing is being privatized & bought up by scumbag corporations who run them into the ground with low income tenants living in hellholes like some of the dumps around here. HUD is being forced to go that route because the Republican run Congress has refused to provide proper funding for upkeep to public housing. Which is not surprising because low income people can't line their pockets like corporate vultures who are bleeding people who live in these ratholes dry.
Someone should take an axe to that door then they'll get a new lock.

If we have to make everything a partisan issue let me provide a different scenario. I would hazard a guess that the door is probably a steel door. They probably would have to resort to hiring a Democrat with a plasma cutter or acetylene torch, which could possibly burn down the entire building, forcing all those poor people to relocate, hopefully to a building that still receives dependable daily mail delivery, managed by an American based Republican owned property management firm. In the mean time, a demolition company headed up by Hunter Biden gets the contract to demo the burnt building and siphons off a few bucks to sneak into daddy's bank account.

According the the news report I saw on WKTV last night, publicity has forced the management to fix the problem. Of course that won't stop the same jerk from breaking a key in the new lock tomorrow.

After finding that it was the mailman who broke the key off in the lock I was inclined to think that the post office should have stepped up to get it repaired. With all the locks involved in the postal business they probably either have a lock smith on payroll or have a go-to lock smith on contract.

Where I lived before they finally caught the guy who was using a lead pencil to stick it into the key hole of apartments so when a tenant returned home and tried to open the door the key wouldn't work. It took a few years to catch him. Cameras all over the place one would think they could have caught the idiot immediately. The excuse was that they ( management ) does not have the time to sit and review a day or more days of camera footage!!!!!

Years ago there were two kids going around Remsen at night sticking toothpicks in people's car door locks. Thankfully they were caught in the act by a state trooper on patrol. I can only imagine coming home and finding the lock to my apartment rendered inoperable by some low life. The pencil lead in the locks must have caused total havoc. One has to wonder what goes through the mind of mental midgets that are inclined to vandalize the property of others.

Then Trump can put up a new building using illegal immigrant labor, them screw them out of their pay when they complain & he threatens them with calling INS. When the building is finished he'll refuse to rent to minorities.

This just in! Residents of Mary Buck apartments in Whitesboro may have their water shut off because the owners owe the MVWA close to $40,000 in past due water bills.
Anyone surprised?

Buck Apartments is a hell hole. They have has constant problems with the elevator and will wait weeks until any problem is fixed. Imagine seniors who use walker having to walk the stairwell from floor five down to floor one to catch a Bus for grocery shopping then having to carry their walker and groceries up the five flights of stairs. In my humble opinion having lived in public housing against my free will people just do not care about these people. I have seen and heard stories that would curl your hair.
There is a lady who I always see on the Bus during my travels. She does have mental problems but but she acts well if you are kind to her( well on her good days). She lived at Buck. I have to give her a lot of credit because she brought the attention of the conditions at Buck and of course found some reason to evict her. She has an apartment now in West Utica near Varick Street that she loves and no one bothers her. Of course if you did bother her you just might find her fist down you throat. LOL The only problem she has is that she does not talk in a normal volume she yells everything out. If I am on the corner of Bleecker and Genny and she see's me she yells from 4 blocks away. Hi Bill, Bill hi, hey Bill hello. Hello, Hello and hello.

Oh I forgot. A person I know said that when you walk into the building one can smell the strong urine ammonia smell that reeks on all floors. Might be coming form babies diapers or from any of the cats in the building.
