another shooting last night on Jewett Place, that makes 3 shooting incidents in a 2 block area in 8 weeks, the next to last being 12 shots fired in my front yard 2 weeks ago, which means they had to have 2 guns or shooting at each other and empty both chambers, correct? I spoke to my LL, I told him he should address it with the tenants, they are afraid and he just shrugged, said it was terrible and he would " look into it." Which in LL speak means " I am a busy man...so don't hold your breath while you're waiting." He owns 5 continuous properties from Jewett to Faxton and another 3 up Faxton, plus a large medical complex and behind that another large apt house, not to mention properties in Syracuse, Florida and God knows what else. The first and second shootings and subsequent arrest happened on his property, but were not his tenants: is he responsible in this case for the safety and well being of his tenants?

If the house next door burns down & yours & your belongings are damaged is the LL responsible? No. I'm not tryng to be a wise guy but LL's are not responsible because gangbangers, drug dealers, lowlifes etc have turned the inner city into a war zone. If he rents to the above & something happens causing tenants to live in unsafe conditions then that's a different matter. There's a couple housing complexes in N.Y. Mills that I drive past frequently & seem to be well maintained. Cedar Ridge is one of them on Main St. Might be worth looking into. Good luck.

I see many apartments for rent in New York Mills. I would not recommend my place since no elevator and the walls of the apartments do not filter noise. Also the LL who is strict thinks nothing about yelling at tenants if they break a lease violation and after so many time out ya go. God forbid you do that.
I heard Cider Ridge is fantastic. I think there are vacancies.

It was a nice place with modern appliances etc. Sadly, he passed away so I don't know how the complex is run now. It's looks well maintained, but who knows.

I don't know where you live Pizza but I would never under any circumstances move into an apt that I was not allowed to view or inspect first. Your LL obviously has something to hide.
