Yesterday, Barb published an obit for our Keurig. I am really missing it today.

I think I will make some herbal tea. I really don't need more caffeine right now, just the warmth and comfort. Also, I have started getting ads on coffee makers right after I posted this.

LOL! The saddest part is that even after you buy another keurig the ads will keep on coming until you block them. Too bad you are not closer. We have three Keurigs. One in the kitchen, one in the motorhome and one boxed up as a spare. I could have made a rescue run to NH. haha.

Someone gave us a used Keurig a few years ago. They make a good cup of coffee but I thought the cost of the pods was a bit much, so we passed it along.

I also think the pods are expensive. I use one that I fill with grounds from a canister. Barb uses the regular pods. We both like a warm drink on a winter evening.

We have one of the refillable pods but I still just buy the Folger's Classic pods at Sam's Club. $41 for 100 pods. I use the refillable pod on infrequent occasions when I get feeling wealthy and buy some Seattle's Best or Dunkin.

I decided to go ahead & give Keurig another try. I ordered one from Amazon yesterday for $50.00 & should be here Tuesday. It's a slim design so it won't take up a lot of counter space. I'll wrap it up & put it under the Xmas tree. Does it matter what reusable pods to use? We have 3 lbs of Dunkin here that we need to use up.

My cardiologist also recently advised cutting my caffeine intake. I used to drink coffee all day and into the evening. Now I limit myself to 2 cups in the morning. I DO still drink my diet green tea with citrus and don't foresee giving THAT up anytime soon. I usually drink two bottles a day and the caffeine content is 22mg per bottle. 400mg per day is considered safe for most people. 22mg is a rather negligible amount considering that a cup of coffee averages 250mg. I am actually over the limit with my two cups of coffee, but I imagine that the caffeine in the coffee has long since been eliminated to a safe level to be able to drink my tea at supper and in the evening.
I have never been able to develop a tasted for decaf coffee. I guess I would rather drink a half a cup of the high test than to add decaf to a full cup. I never thought that old age would bring the necessity to cut back on my coffee. When I was driving over the road I used to routinely drink two 1 quart thermos bottles full per day along with a cup or two in the truck stop with breakfast. I used to keep a pot on in the shop while I was working but recently cut that out. If I was out there all afternoon I would consume the better part of a 10 cup pot.

Try the folgers that is half the caffeine. I use that and I do not notice any difference. Folgers Half Caff coffee is flavorful and smooth, with all the rich, pure flavor and classic aroma you love — but without all the caffeine. In fact, it contains about half the caffeine of Folgers Classic Roast coffee.

I am going to try it if I can find it in Keurig pods. Off to the podiatrist and then bowling. Kathy is going to be busy in rehab this afternoon so I will go see her about 4. She is doing well.
