I just read on the OD page that the kid that ran from Wcup in August, got off with a $1000 fine, some surcharges, and pleaded the rest down to 76 in a 55 zone. Jeez. Here is a kid that should not be allowed back on the road period. His license should be revoked for at least a couple of years or more, and then he would have time to reflect on his idioscy.
Lawyers and plea bargains are getting crazy. It is obvious that the DA is afraid he will either plug the courts, or has no faith that he can make a case for a stiffer punishment at trial. Andy Donovan got off with a fine and slap on his little wrist. Politics and plea bargaining is crazy in many cases.
This kids parents will be proud that he was pleaded down, when he repeats his stupidity on his rice rocket and kills himself. He needed to pay the fiddler in order to learn the lessons. He put a lot of people at risk. Thank God Wcup had enough sense to slow the pursuit and call for help. Could have been another incident like the kid that killed his friends when he drove them through the wall at Joel's Steakhouse.
We used to have a kid that went by our house on Herkimer Rd every night at about 100mph and that is not an exaggeration. He finally came up out of the dip by Mt Zion ministries one night as a girl backed out of her driveway, and he became part of her backseat upholstery. Sad, but a deserving end for a repeat offender that did it night after night. Now the girl has that nightmare in her head for the rest of her life. It was not a pretty accident scene.

That must have been the incident that preceeded all the flowers being left on Herkimer Rd. by Mt. Zion.

Don't feel like you live in the only area where kids do stupid! We just had a kid on the local news today that was picked up doing 176MPH on a motorcycle on Route 11W just south of here. Rt 11 in Syracuse runs all the way down here and comes through Bristol and Kingsport. I think it ends In Knoxville if I am not mistaken.

That is interesting. Next time I'm out for a drive... ;D
Kids are not any smarter today than they were in the 1950s in that respect. There's always that 10%.

It still amazes me to see these people who repeatedly do this get off light. The interesting similarity between Andrew Donovan's 2nd DWI/wreck and the russian fellow that just got 4-12 this week for the same thing (except for Andrew's running from the scene part) is outrageous to me. He had a excellent lawyer but his mother isn't named Donna Donovan I guess. What bums. Ha Ha Ha! If my mom was Donna she'd have me on the front page picture for a WEEK and personally lock me up just to remind me of all the extra trouble I'd caused and to prove to the community that their media was to be trusted ultimatley, not even an appearance of impropriety. This place is screwed up bad.

I've seen several references to that being Andrew Donovan's second DWI but it just seems to have come out of the air and repeated. I've never found any reference to a first DWI.
I think there is also a big difference between causing a death and causing property damage.
