I hate chemical stress test but can't do the treadmill anymore because of my hip. The last visit to the cardiologist revealed that I have gone back into Afib. The last time they had to do a 7 hour ablation procedure to get me back into sinus rhythm. I know that there is a higher risk when Afib is present. Wish me luck and send up a little prayer that I don't end up boobies up on a slab.

Take care of yourself. I need our daily conversations to keep me sane.

Take care of yourself. I need our daily conversations to keep me sane. So much for getting the stress test today. I got up at 6:30 and left home at 8:30 for a 9:45 appointment. I dropped Kathy's portable oxygen unit off at Lincare because it wouldn't charge and stopped for gas. Kingsport about 20 miles or so. I got about 3 or 4 miles from the heart institute where the test was to be done and they called me on my cell and cancelled my appointment due to equipment issues. They rescheduled me for next Wednesday at 10am.

Around here if we don't cancel an appointment 24 hours ahead of time we have to pay for the appointment. Maybe you could bill the cardiologist for the cancelled appointment, or at least part of it. I know it sounds silly, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

The biggest inconvenience was having to fast after midnight with nothing allowed by my medications and water. I managed to keep my cool and was not rude to the person tasked with the notification. I just shook my head and mumbled a few cuss words after I hung up, and headed for the nearest McDonald's drive-thru for a hot cup of joe to sip on my way home. Not only should I send the doctor a bill for the cancelled appointment, I should also file a travel voucher for 40 cents per mile for the round trip.

If you have a copay next week I'd tell them to take a walk. But good luck next week with your procedure. Hope all goes well.

That is what I told the person that called me and I intend to strongly protest any attempt to make me pay it, but I won't take a ding on my credit over $25.
I was the second patient of the day and I guess the machine puked during the first patient's test. One would think that being the areas premier heart institute they would have more than one of everything critical to their ability to perform the procedure.

Did you get the stress test cause it seems like the stress test gives ya stress. I have had 3 stress tests the normal way. Doctor was impressed I could get to almost the end of the test without pooping out. I told the Doctor these stress tests make me very stressed. Also why not have me holdoff on my blood pressure medications for a period of time before the test. The Doc that did my Mom's chemical stress test kept have her injected with a medication that helped to lower blood pressure which did not work so he had her stop talking all meds for BP for three days and repeated the test and finally it can out ok.

I didn't have the test PB. They rescheduled it for this coming Wednesday. I wanted them to schedule me quicker but they said it was the first appointment that they had open. Thank goodness I am not in any sort of immediate need or having any ongoing issues.

Heading out for the stress test this morning at 10. Can't wait to get it over with. Just a side note, mornings without coffee really suck.

The procedure was not a problem. Just took awhile. I am extremely claustrophobic after the incident years ago at St E's when I had an extremely severe case of anaphylaxis while having a CAT scan of my sinuses.
The Lexiscan procedure is relatively new. The took me back, started and IV and placed the electrodes. Then I had to lay on the CAT scanner table for about 20 minutes while the isotope used in the solution that makes your heart rate go up came from 15 miles away. The isotope has such a short half life that they have to order it and a driver brings it from a lab in Gray Tn, about 15 miles away. It takes him 20 minutes to get to the heart institute on I-26. The patient has to be prepped and ready when the isotope arrives. They take it from the courier and immediately begin the test. 12 minutes into the test they inject the solution with the isotope and the your heart begins to beat fast, you become short of breath. In only 1 minute the effects start to diminish and within 5 minutes or so you feel normal again.
Nothing like the scary old procedure where the drug made your heart just about pound out of your chest and the heat feeling passed through you, making you feel like you were peeing your pants. I will see the cardiologist on Monday and get the results. He will probably want to schedule a cardioversion to shock my heart to see if he can stop the Afib and restore sinus rhythm. I am hoping that is why I feel tired and get short of breath with exertion and that they can correct it.

My heart feels like it is pounding occasionally in the morning before I get up. It wakes me up. Happened again this morning. If I get up and walk to kitchen then back to bed it stops. My ankles all of a sudden have once again have a lot of fluid in them. I got to remember to mention this Dec 1 for my appointment with Primary.
I am glad things went well for you Clipper

Take a day off and take care of yourself.
