Even though we have eliminated quite a few of the large trees, there are still two on one side of the house. A huge pin oak, and a beautiful maple. Between the two of them they drop enough leaves to keep me busy between now and the time that the last leaf falls. I made ten trips across the road to empty the bags on the bagging attachment yesterday. I am very thankful that we invested in the new gutters and had the leaf guards installed. In years gone by the gutters were constantly filling up with leaves and requiring cleaning. No more ladders and gutter cleaning necessary.
The weather this time of year is optimum for working outside. I love being outside, in a flannel shirt, enjoying the fresh, crisp fall air.

I love the look of large trees. But not the work of racking...

That is the color of our one remaining maple. It is tall, well shaped and beautiful. I just wish I could afford to have the old pin oak removed but $2500? A bit steep and not in the budget for right now. The tree guy said it was perfectly healthy and not at risk of blowing down, and I am not willing to spend that much right now just because I don't like it. Maybe between now and spring I will get off my wallet and have it done, haha.

Cutting a tree down has become very expensive.

I'll mow for the last time this year later this week then put the rider to bed for winter along with the garden hoses & garden tools to get ready for the winter siege. Now I'm on pear detail picking up deadfalls to set out for green waste pickup. There's not as many on the tree compared to years past so I'm not complaining. The other half is already talking about hanging Xmas lights because Nov. 1 is right around the corner.

Another day starting out at 40 degrees and going to the high seventies this afternoon. We have been lucky to have the lows at night in the 40s and 50s. By next Tuesday however we will see night time temperatures drop into the 20s and low 30s.
