downshiftology.com/recipes/overnight-oats/This stuff is delicious. I made mine with 2% milk, Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, a teaspoon of cinnamon sugar and a tablespoon of Kathy's home made strawberry freezer jam. I also added a splash of vanilla extract, probably a half tsp.

I'll definetely be trying that, looks good. Do you use plain yogurt, but I supppose flavored would be better. Have to run to the store tomorrow for the oats, chia seeds which I've never had & Greek yogurt.

I didn't use any yogurt this time because I didn't have any, nor did I have any chia seeds. Even without the yogurt and chia the stuff was delicious, and the consistency was as creamy as cooked old fashioned oats. I am going to try it with vanilla yogurt and will probably experiment with different fruit flavors. If you browse around all the recipes that come up when you search "overnight oats" you will find all sorts of combos. One recipe includes peanut butter. I can't imagine trying to stir peanut butter into raw oatmeal. Can you? lol
I DID read on one of the recipes that if the oats were not creamy enough you could add a bit more liquid. I added an extra splash of 2% milk. I am going to pick up some yogurt and some bananas. I love oatmeal and will be trying all sorts of experiments with this stuff. I have oatmeal at least 3 times a week and don't like quick or instant. I always slow cook the old fashioned oats and stand at the stove slowly stirring forever in order to get the creamy consistency I like. The only thing missing is the small pat of butter that I usually drop on the top and stir in as it melts.

I'll definetely be trying that, looks good. Do you use plain yogurt, but I supppose flavored would be better. Have to run to the store tomorrow for the oats, chia seeds which I've never had & Greek yogurt. I added the yogurt to my oats last night. I bought the yogurt with fruit on the bottom. I used black cherry yogurt and it added just a hint of cherry flavor. I have an idea that maybe rather than fruit in the bottom one might possibly use vanilla flavored yogurt and add a couple tablespoons of fruit flavored pie filling. I am going to try it with cherry pie filling. It probably will bring a bit more flavor to the dance. I will have to figure out how to store the left over pie filling for future use. I am thinking that I might put it in an ice cube tray and freeze it. After freezing I would pop it out of the tray and put it in a freezer bag so I could grab a couple of cubes and let them defrost in time to use them to top the oat meal or to blend in when preparing it. I am enjoying the overnight oats. It is a new and novel breakfast option. I imagine that within a week or so the novelty will wear off and will become just one more interesting and tasty selection to add to the breakfast menu. In the meantime it is fun experimenting with the recipe.

Barb has made it in the past but she doesn't like cold oatmeal. I'm not a big fan of cold breakfasts either. I prefer something warm even during hot weather.

You don't really have to eat it cold. I warmed it in the microwave today for a minute and thirty seconds. I put it in the microwave and it warmed while my coffee ran through the Keurig machine. I liked it both ways.
