We came home yesterday and unpacked most of the stuff from the motorhome. Last evening I was feeling pretty crappy with a sore throat and sinus headache. I ran a low grade 100 degree fever that broke with two Tylenol tablets. I woke up this morning still feeling pretty lousy so I went to Urgent Care. I have a sinus infection so they prescribed a Z-pack and Flonase prescription strength.
I don't take chances on anything any more and if I am having any respiratory issues, upper OR lower it hit the urgent care for a dependable covid test to keep from giving covid to Kathy. I don't think she could survive a third hospitalization for covid with her COPD compromised lungs.

I hope you're feeling better. Seems like there's always something goinv around. Last week I went for the RSV & senior pneumonia vaccines. I spent half the summer feeling like crap & tested negative for Covid. Dr sent me for lab work & the results daid nothing negative. I don't have allergies & couldn't figure out what the hell was wrong. But I think I nailed it. I quit smoking 9 years ago & to take off the edge i started using a vape pen. Well, I thought with the hacking & low energy that might be the issue & I've just about got that whipped by chewing nicotine gum I feel a whole lot better. No more hacking, energy level is up etc.
Like cigs, God only knows what they're putting in that vape liquid but it took a long time for it to catch up with me.
Soon I'm going for the Covid booster, not taking any chances.

I quit smoking in 2004. Over the years I have come to the conclusion that the only thing I need to put in my lungs is fresh air. I read recently about a 15 year old high school kid that ended up with popcorn lung and a pneumonia caused by the chemicals in vaping liquid. The pneumonia put him in ICU for a period of time. The article included a link. www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/what-does-vaping-do-to-your-lungs#SnippetTabWhile reading that article I saw that one of the chemicals you inhale is also used as a weed killer and that vape liquid also contains Formaldehyde. What the hell. I don't think I want to be inhaling embalming fluid. Congrats on the progress in quitting the vape pen. I had enough experience with addiction when I drank myself half to death before quitting. When I smoked for over 40 yrs I constantly suffered with frequent bouts of bronchitis and sinus infections as well as the shortness of breath. I suffer enough from allergies to pollen and dust. I could not believe how much better I felt after I got over the initial cravings and had not smoked for a period of time. The fact of the matter most likely is this. ANY addiction to foreign substances most likely does long term damage of one sort or another. Pretty soon you will notice a pleasant increase in the ability to taste and smell. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to distinguish the difference between the smell of a rose and a beer fart, lol. We are also awaiting the new vaccine and will get boosted. Now it is not just DeSantis that is anti-vax. He appointed a surgeon general that is anti-vax. The man has doctorate degrees from both Wake Forest and Harvard and is a teacher at the University of Florida. I shake my head in disbelief when I hear of a doctor who is out to convince people that the vaccines do more harm than good.

I use to buy my vape liquid from a local shop owner who mixed his own liquid but who closed his doors after being flooded out in Whitesboro twice. He also had a shop in Rome that closed this summer. I then had to buy the stuff from some outfit on Commercial Dr. & that's when things went downhill. I looked at the bottle, one of thr ingredients is Propolene Glycol, ugh! & vegetable glycerin, whatever that is, but it don't sound good.

Im glad you stopped after you figured it out.

I feel better today. Took my Z-pack tablet this morning and took my two snorts of Flonase. The Flonase has made a difference. The pharmacist clued me into a bargain. The prescription strength has more of the steroid and comes in a larger bottle with more liquid than the OTC product. RX strength $12. OTC $16. We went bowling at 1 pm and out to Captain D's for fish afterward. Captain D's is a seafood restaurant sort of like an upscale Long John Silver's. They have a pretty extensive selection of fish, shrimp, fried clam strips, and will grill fish for those that don't want it fried. They have white fish, catfish and flounder.

Fried clam strips are tasty and I miss the ones Howard Johnsons made on North Genesee St. When I was in college at MVCC we used to go there on the night when they had "all you can eat" clams. A carload of college guys can sure take any profit out of ANY "all you can eat" special. lol

It was Howard Johnson's. The college kids made sure that the fried chicken deal didn't last long. A group of us went to the Herkimer HJ and ate our weight in chicken. Went back the following week and they had discontinued the special. They also at one time had spaghetti and meat sauce on an all you can eat special. the sauce was worse than Chef Boyardee.

Back in the day we'd hit the N.Utica Hojo's for breakfast after a night on the town & the place was packed. That was before people could do that & not have to worry about getting carjacked, mugged or worse.
Hojo's also had the best strawberry shortcake in the city, bar none.
Good old days, no doubt.
