I found the ultimate solution to weeks of mulching and dumping leaves. We cut down the offending trees. I should only have to mulch and dispose of leaves on one side of the house now where we have a large maple and a large oak tree. Our dogwood and our peach tree don't drop enough leaves to require anything other than mulching them up with the mower.
We don't get the bright reds and golds like upstate NY does. Lots of yellow and brown leaves and a very few maples to bring that dazzling red and gold to the party We always took a trip up through Poland and up to Speculator, over to Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake and back down through Old Forge with dinner at the Buffalo Head or Garramone's in Forestport Station.

You have a dogwood! I really like those trees. When I lived in Missouri the property where the novitiate was had two dogwoods on either side of the large metal gate door that framed the entrance. So monastic~~~

You have a dogwood! I really like those trees. When I lived in Missouri the property where the novitiate was had two dogwoods on either side of the large metal gate door that framed the entrance. So monastic~~~ We had 4 of them when we moved here but I had to cut down 3 of the 4 because the people that we bought the house from planted them too close to the septic drain field. I have cut several trees that they planted helter skelter all over the lot. The dogwoods were just a part of much larger tree problems that have been ongoing for the 22 yrs we have lived here. Some were planted under already mature trees, a huge fir tree was planted 5 feet from the driveway and the branches hung about 3 feet out into the double driveway. The dumbest move of all was to plant a beautiful Japanese red maple 3 feet from the corner of the back sidewalk and the driveway. It hung over enough that we had to step to one side to get around it on the sidewalk. There was also 3 ornamental peach trees that were planted in three locations around the yard. I took down two of the three because they were just one more obstacle to mow around. There was 13 trees on a 3/4 acre lot and they were scattered about with no rhyme or reason. You would have to have seen it to know how ridiculous it looked. I guess they were trying to start a poorly planned arboretum. The surviving dogwood now stands alone in the sun, on a knoll overlooking the road since the power company took down the huge maple that overshadowed it. It stands out now in the landscape so it's beauty can be appreciated when it blooms in spring.

I planned on planting a Cousa Dogwood in our front yard that borders our garage but I heard they've been afflicted with a type of fungus so I didn't bother. I miss the huge evergreen that was there. It was damaged in a storm on Halloween 3-4 years ago & had to come down. It was so huge you couldn't see into our backyard from the road which gave us some privacy. This spring I planted 3 Thuja Green Giant Arborvitia which are supposed to grow 3-5 ft a year once they are established. They've grown a foot since May, they're now about 5 ft tall but I'll have to keep the snow load off them this winter so they don't snap. No big deal. We had a lot of trees here which were well planned out but lost all but 2, a pear & an Evergreen due to storm damage. All Conifers so leaves weren't a problem. Whoever planted them knew what they were doing.
I'm happy to find out that the Cretin behind us who's tree landed in our yard a couple years ago, who we had to build a fence thanks to him because his tree took out HIS fence & his yard was a catastrophe took his old lady & flew the coop. Rumor has it is he was behind in his property taxes. Shocking!
Somebody bought the house & he has a contractor there cleaning up the jungle & there's a huge dumpster parked, filled with the mess they left behind inside the place. When we took down HIS fence, or what was left of it I threw back into his yard & it layed there since June of last year. It's now in that dumpster. LMAO

Congrats on getting rid of the trailer trash. It hopefully was bought by someone with a bit of pride in their property and will clean up the place and keep the lawn groomed.
