I just came from the post office. Across the street from the post office was what must be an eviction in progress. There were two police cars there and an entire household of furniture thrown helter skelter on the front lawn with a woman in the door way of the Town House throwing clothes out on the grass in a pile. The lady behind the counter in the post office said that when she opened the post office this morning there were FOUR police cars across the street and that they took two people out in handcuffs. I guess I would assume that the people were given until the 14th to vacate and they didn't.

Sounds like it. The Sheriff wouldn't be slapping cuffs on someone who was evicted for not paying rent, I would think. But then again, it is a Red State. Lol

I have seen that happen several times and it is always for either not paying rent or behavioral issues at least with the Municipal Housing Authority. With them if you are three days late with rent they give notice that rent is do within 24 hours or you will be evicted. Maintenance comes with the police the door is opened the tenant is escorted out then maintenance takes out the double widow a truck shows up under window and everything is tossed out the window.

I called a friend from Kingsport who has a son that is a deputy. He said that the couple refused to leave the house. The police entered to remove them and the man got frisky and shoved one of the officers. He was tased and cuffed. The wife then threatened the police with a kitchen knife when they tried to get her to leave so she was also cuffed and arrested. They were booked into the jail, posted a bond and were released. The landlord gave them 24 hours to have their belongings off the property or he was going to load it on his truck and take it to the landfill. It turns out that the police had been to that address several times in recent weeks for noise complaints due to loud fighting, all night parties, and loud music. The man had been arrested twice in two months for making threats to neighbors who asked them to quiet down. They also hadn't paid any rent or only part of their rent for several months. I guess there was quite a bit of filth and damage to the apartment so the landlord wanted their belongings out of there so he could have the place cleaned and repairs done.
Rather handy having David's son working at the Sherriff's Dept. as a road patrol deputy. David's daughter in law also works there as a corrections deputy in the jail. A great family. I met them at a prayer vigil several years ago for a Sgt that was shot and killed when he responded to a call to check on the welfare of an individual. He was shot in the head the moment he stepped out of the car.
Hearing all of that I am sure that the people that live in the rest of that townhouse complex are waking up with a smile today.
