news.yahoo.com/biden-plans-ask-congress-funding-003513892.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=fb&tsrc=fbI think we have been here before and congress didn't fund it. If they DID fund it I doubt that everyone would get the vaccine. They are working on new vaccines every day and will have them available very soon. We don't need another divisive battle as to whether it should be a personal choice. Government over-reach is becoming more prevalent with every day that passes. We don't need to further deplete our military or cost civilians their jobs because they don't want to put the vaccines in their bodies. We have an administration that believes it should be a woman's right to REMOVE something from their body, such as a viable fetus, and now they propose taking away the personal choice as to what we want to put INTO our bodies. Sorry! My body is MY body and the decision should be mine. Kathy and I intend to stay vaccinated and boosted but I don't need a decree from the White House to mandate it.

I feel the same way BUT there are many knuckleheads who do not believe in the science behind this and so that they do not infect every other knucklehead a mandate becomes necessary. Imagine what would happen if people refused the polio vaccine. I know a lady whose parents would not allow there children to get the vaccine and she contacted polio. She lived but it ruined her body now having trouble talking and walking.

Whoever ignores vaccine mandates which are there to protect people from a deadly virus should be required to pay their own Dr. & hospital bills if they become infected.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes like listening to Trump & his right wing idiot squad in Congress & gum flappers like DeSantis in Florida.
Hopefully, mandates will go into effect in the federal & state court systems when Trump goes on trial so he will be ordered to cover his yap with a mask. It will be an improvement.

Most of the new variants have not been as deadly as the original and it seems to be mainly those with other issues that compromise their health who are truly at risk of serious complications, hospitalization or death. At this point in time they are the ones who need to take necessary precautions and it should be their decision to do so or not. If not for Kathy's poor respiratory health I might not be in a huge rush to get another booster. Yes, I will get boosted but I am not going to be wrapped up in a paranoid panic Falchi style, camping out at the door to the VA clinic to be first in line. I may wait long enough to see if the vaccine is effective and if there are serious or dangerous side effects noted. Biden declared that the pandemic was over. Closely monitoring the situation is warranted, but mandates and instilling irrational fear and paranoia is a bit premature.

People walked around like robots, me included, giving wide berth to everyone around us, waking early for special hours at the store for seniors, no eat-in dining at restaurants, no entertainment venues, no classroom schooling for kids, no hugs or personal contact, holding church services in parking lots with people confined to their cars, N95 masks impeding our ability to breathe freely, walking about with a pocket full of exam gloves, and hand sanitizer bottles. At some point I may find myself sympathizing with the knuckleheads if we find ourselves being overly bombarded 24/7 as we were during the original pandemic. We know enough now about the virus to be able to react in real time without OVER reacting.
Our government is broken. I was not fond of governing by executive order or presidential mandate when it was Trump doing it, and I am certainly not happy with Biden "ruling" from the white house. We have a congress for a reason, and the balance of power is dangerously compromised when a majority vote in congress is set aside in favor of authoritarian rule dictated by the sitting president, regardless of party.

I've looked at the numbers for my age group and getting the initial shots and boosters seemed a no brainer. Old guys are more likely to live if they get the shots. I don't work any more which cuts my exposure rate but I have frequent contact with my grandchildren which raises my exposure to everything. I've had Covid twice, the second time I was treated with monoclonal antibodies which seemed very effective.

Kathy was treated with monoclonal antibodies both times when she was hospitalized and as a result she was turned around and discharged from the hospital 5 days later.
I certainly believe in vaccination. I just object to any mandates. It should be a personal choice at this point in time. Get vaccinated and be protected or don't get the vaccine and take a chance on dying. Your choice. No skin off my ass if a person chooses to risk death or serious illness.
We both stay boosted but I choose to wait until there is data available about the new vaccines. Side effects etc. Kathy and I both have taken antibody tests through Labcorp a year after each vaccination booster and our insurance has paid for them as long as our PC doctors give us and order for the testing. We both have maintained a high level of immunity at one year, but both still get boosted against new variants when new vaccines hit the market.
The Labcorp testing is easy. They have locations inside of some of the Walgreen stores with results available 3 days after the sample is picked up. We also keep the government provided boxed nasal swab tests on hand and if either of us feels lousy or shows any sort of symptoms that could even remotely be covid, we test ourselves. None of these tests are 100% guaranteed to be accurate but they are fairly dependable.
Does anyone else do the antibody testing?

I lost a cousin to Covid when it first hit. Healthy as a horse at 65, still worked, hunted, fished etc., etc. Of course there was no vaccine at the time & PPE was in short supply. If the vaccine was available he would no doubt have taken it & he'd still be alive today. It was a damn shame because he was a great guy & had many years ahead of him until the menace of Covid hit. I don't have much sympathy for people who won't take the vaccine after listening to political hacks like DeSantis who themselves lined up for the shot but refuse to recommend it to others because of politics. I don't care what Biden says the virus is still here & it's killing people. I'll probably get the booster sometime this Fall along with the Flu & a couple others that I'm due for. I had Covid the winter before last & I'm taking no chances.
