www.wktv.com/news/crime/shots-fired-investigation-on-lenox-avenue-in-utica/article_d4de303c-3aa6-11ee-a4e7-9b798d7f553c.htmlWe always bought meat at Pulaski Meat Market when in town, but this last trip we just drove down Lenox and on the corner by Pulaski there was a group of hoodie wearing, gangster looking grown men loitering on the sidewalk. We kept on driving and went to Hapanowicz instead. Between Pulaski Meat Market and Court St we saw a couple of additional gatherings of undesirable looking droopy drawered punks, one group that was actually standing in the road and glared at us when we drove by. We pretty much traversed the city on the Arterial, or East and West on Oriskany St after that and won't be patronizing the Pulaski Meat Market again anytime in the near future.

Don't blame you. I haven't gone to Pulaski in years for the same reason. Every time you turn around someone is getting plugged in that area & it's a disgrace what's happened to Utica. Half the damn cit is a war zone. They should fence off the animals between the N.S. arterial west to Champlain Ave & from Oriskany Blved south to practically Burrstone Rd. East Utica is just as bad between John St east to Culver Ave & Broad St. south to Rutger. I'll probably get in trouble for this but it's the truth.

In the least few years West Utica has become the new "Cornhill", and with the Varick Street BS thrown in it won't get any better. The Globe Mill Apts. which was supposed to bring folks in has done just that.........but the wrong folks. The neighborhoods continue to decline all over the city while it concentrates all it's hopes and dreams and the Aud, Baggs Square and Harbor Point. I cringes every time I have to drop off the truck at my mechanics and walk back home. Not too damn much better in the daytime either.

From what I have seen and heard is that when these new apartment buildings are built most cornhill people are moving into them because of substandard housing in cornhill. The Globe Apartments has added to that as well as Kennedy Apartments. The only way to avoid undesirables from moving in it to not rent to people with low income. Sad to say but that is true. Place I lived in was very nice at start then with more and more moved in violence drastically increased in the building and around the building. It is only going to get worse. I have heard people say that Varick Street bar area has been destroyed but people doing just as both of your described. I like Pulaski Meat Market and I go on a Wednesday morning and so far no problems. I hit the area around 11:15 AM . Luckily the bus stop coming back is in front of the building.

You need a concealed carry weapon with a 3 or 4 inch barrel that will fit nicely in your waist band. I remember when you discouraged a robber one night when you were closing up at Dunkin. Anyone that works nights or that closes a business and has to make a night deposit should be armed. I carry a SCCY CPX1 9mm and shoot fairly accurately at 25 yards but it has a 9lb trigger pull. I have been in the market for several months for a Taurus Spectrum 380. It has a trigger 7-9lb trigger pull, but the trigger pull is much smoother, the gun fits much nicer in my hand and is much lighter to carry. Unfortunately they have been out of stock everywhere I have looked. I have a friend that I shoot with that has one and the first time I fired it I wanted one. If I lived where you do and had to come and go at night I would want something that I could drop in the pocket of my jeans or jacket or carry in an inside the waist band holster. They only cost $200 most places. I don't want to invest 4 or 5 hundred in a pistol. I am not the avid gun owner or shooter that I was when I was younger.

Thanks for the link PB. There are a couple of gun shows coming up around here soon. There is one on Sept 2nd in Kingsport. I will probably go check it out. There are a couple of shows coming up that are about an hour away but I don't think I will be driving an hour to a show. I am not that urgently pursuing the purchase. I am hoping that they will eventually be back in stock at a local dealer. They aren't being manufactured at the present time.

I guess at that particular time of day the dopers, scumbags and gangsters haven't gotten up yet after a night of drugging, plundering, and assaulting.

Nope, not till at least the crack of noon or later when their Baby Mama has to make breakfast on her lunch hour from work to support their sorry azzes.

Clipper..........you don't actually think I take that walk empty, do you? I sort of doubted it. If I had to deal with Corn Hill in recent years I would have turret gun mounted on the hood. LOL
