We are in the midst of the usual spring thermometer yoyo effect. We have 70's and 80's for several days and then the pendulum swings in the opposite direction and drops from above normal to below normal. It was 84 the day before yesterday and it is 52 now, but earlier it was a cold 46 with a breeze blowing. A bit too cold for my thin blooded old frame.

Same here. Summer one day, winter next day. It's just starting to clear up here but temps are in the upper 40's & the furnace just kicked on. Our lawn needs mowing but it can wait.

Our lawn is starting to look like a patchwork quilt between the green grass and the straw covered patches. I am still not through patching and reseeding damaged lawn. Spent yesterday feeding and mulching the rose bushes. Tomorrow if nothing else comes up I will break out the tiller. Yup! I know. I said no garden. I guess it is in my blood. I am yearning to get in the dirt and get squash, tomatoes, and cukes planted in the garden. I have the containers all prepped for Kathy's pepper plants outside the back door. 8 five gallon buckets, holes drilled for drainage, bottom lined with river rocks, covered with a sheet of landscape cloth, and topped with a mix of garden soil and composted cow manure. We had frost last night and it is expected again tonight. I probably won't plant anything until at least May 1st. Peppers always thrive and produce like crazy well into fall.

I've never had any luck planting grass in spring. Every time I did it died off in the heat of summer. There's a couple patches out back that need reseeding but I'll wait till early fall to do it. Saturday, I had to cut down our plum tree that was infected with black knot & was beyond saving, which turned into a 3 hr. project between limbing it, blocking it & hauling it out near our fence & the lawn cleanup.
I'm not sure about a garden this year. Dragging 100 ft of garden hose to water the plants is getting old. And so am I. Maybe some container plants.

We had a brief warm spell there last week, but now were back to semi-chilly springtime temps.

I am definitely not going to put in a garden but there are containers out in the garage which will get plants in a couple weeks.

If I had it to do over again I would go with the container gardening along with vertical gardening for things like lettuces and herbs. We have several waist high outside planters that people here can use if they want to plant some tomatoes or cukes or basil or oregano etc. I am going to put in a cherry tomato plant and some basil and see what happens.
Seems like we are back to winter. I still have my heat on. And the government sent out some money to those people with HEAP. A total of $100. Hope that will help those who are experiencing troubles with afford there heat and electric bills. I have a credit with National Grid of $1,400!!!! When they put in the heat pumps with a/c they really saved me money. Lots of money.
