My former brother in-law finally has his airplane out and is once more doing his narrated videos of his flights around the Verona neighborhood. He has had many different airplanes over the years and is a highly skilled pilot and certified flight instructor who once owned and operated Verona Sky Diving Center. He is also retired OCSD Sgt. and operates a custom cutting meat cutting business.
The little Bushcat aircraft that he flies on a daily basis for what he calls his "wind therapy" is an amazing little airplane that will take of and land almost anywhere. He lands in plowed ground, hayfields, and his friend's and other private pilot's runways, and that little plane always amazes me with how easily he can land and get up and out in such a short distance, even on rough ground.
His dad was also a pilot.
Enjoy that sunshine and warm temperatures today. It is cooler here today. Only in the mid seventies with a thunder storm expected later in the afternoon.

It certainly got hot fast but good thing no humidity or dew points to make it feel muggy. What is an OCSD Sgt.

Darrell is also a ham radio operator. I talk with him every now and then. He is a great guy Kit. My heart goes out to him. He is struggling in his grief over the loss of Liz, his longtime companion several months ago now. She had gone to the casino to play her free play on the slots. Shortly after she returned home she dropped over and died of a massive heart attack. They were inseparable and truly devoted to each other. You seldom saw one without the other. Having known Darrell as the normally upbeat and outgoing former brother in-law over the years it is just heart breaking to see him so lonely and grief stricken. I am left appreciating every moment I spend with Kathy, knowing that one or the other of us could be unexpectedly taken in such a manner. He also knew Dave through Ham Radio. That thunderstorm that was predicted roared through here with a short and unsettling period of torrential rain, constant lightening, and loud thunder. I was out shopping at the time but Kathy says that the dog leaped onto her lap, cowering and shaking pitifully until it passed. Thankfully it was short lived and the downpour soon reduced to an intermittent drizzle that lasted into the evening. It rained so hard that I pulled into a parking lot because it was raining so hard that water was pooling on the road and I could hardly see beyond the hood of the car. |

Our unusual heat spell will end Monday with a high of 55 degrees. LOL
