wibx950.com/weather-predictions-for-april-in-cny-showing-springtime-improvement/It is that time of year that I always looked forward to. While the weather could still remain unstable temperature wise, any snow that comes from here on out is usually short lived. April first was always the TRUE first day of spring for me as a trout fisherman. I had stood in snow up to my knees and I have stood on the bank in short sleeves. I remember one year fishing along the West Canada in a snowmobile suit, a ski mask that covered half my face, and building a fire to warm my hands. When that first fresh trout of the season hit the skillet with a bit of butter it was all worth it. We are still having some cold nights on and off, but spring is here for the most part. I have mowed twice and anxiously await the time when I can safely put Kathy's pepper plants in containers for her to watch and tend to near the back door. A garden? Still up for debate. The urge is still there although year after year I always say I will NOT put in a garden, the smell of fresh tilled soil, and seeing the veggie plants out at the stores and nurseries win me over in the end. I have a lot of work to do in repairing some of the lawn and restoring grass in spots, so we will see how that goes. I have another month before people put plants in the ground here.

We will soon be heading north after our vacation from winter in Florida. What I look forward to now is face-to-face visits with my grandchildren.

That is so nice, CB. My brother in laws Mom still goes to Florida for winter and returns in April or May. She is in some sort of time share since I think 1990. She says the same thing as you!!!!!!
My brother in law and sister go down for the month of March. This is the second time for them....

This is the first time we have spent an extended time on a winter vacation. I don't miss snow shoveling but I do miss my grandkids visiting multiple times per week.

If I do a garden it will be a scant few tomatoes, peppers, basil & that's about it. I'd like to find some mini watermelon plants but I couldn't last year. My yard is a never ending project tryig to beat back weeds & crabgrass but this year I bought 3 bags of Scott's Halts to use as a premergent to stop the stuff from germinating late spring/early summer. Soon I'll be chopping down the plum tree which has had it due to black knot, it barely leafs out so has to go. I'm also going to work on the pear tree so this Fall I won't have to pick up 1000 deadfalls like last year & years before. Enough. I won't cut it down, it's the only shade treee that we still have.
