Vinny passed away Jan31 2023. Sad to hear the news. He was a band member of Target . I followed the band while living in Utica and occasionally back in Utica or when they played in 1000 Is. When I was at camp snd they were there. Even once here in Rochester. R.I.P.

I remember Vinny vaguely, Target played at the Moose Club in Marcy a couple of times years ago. It was a great group. So many of the great musicians from our past have passed on, and what they consider music now is just a lot of raucous noise in my opinion.

I never saw them play live but I 've heard good things about them & they had a loyal following.h
Yep, I agree most of the music coming out now is crap imho. It's a shame that musicians & vocalist nowadays have to use Auto Tune to sound like they can actually play & sing.
These streaming services that are robbing musicians & songwriters blind have ruined the music business.

Every generation has it's own type of music. When we were kids, the chances are that our parents didn't like the music that we liked, just as many of us don't care for today's music. This is what promotes nostalgia in many of us. Different strokes for different folks. This has been going on for a long time and will continue for many years to come.

Peter Pan tastes much better and they say it will make you sing like and Irish tenor. I will let you know. I have Peter Pan on an English muffin once in a while. I will try singing next time and will let you know if people are knocking down my door to book me for gigs at local venues.

This is why I'm reluctant to read some of the posts on Clipper's Corner after the first post. It starts off speaking about Vinnie Esposito and quickly turns to peanut butter.

I am truly sorry that it offends you Kit. The forum has never stuck to the subject of a thread for long before wandering. That goes way back to the days of Bobbiez and others, including myself, going off subject. I hope it never drives you completely away from the forum.
As for today's music, I am certainly happy that I have Sirius XM in the car. At least I can tune to some 50's and 60's, big band, Sinatra, or current country that is tolerable compared to all the rap, hip hop, and rock music popular with young folks today. Right now I have a Whitney Houston CD playing as I browse. I just enjoy relaxing and easy listening music for the most part. The music of groups like Target will never grow old. Much of today's noise, banging on a guitar and screaming and dancing around the stage like you have fire ants in your jock strap can't possible leave a legacy that will have people going back hunting for it years from now. I wish I had a Target CD, as well as CDs of MANY of the local bands of the past.
One thing I will never understand is the young folks that listen to the blasting bass beat that vibrates the windows of cars around them. There is no melody or lyrics. Just that deafening thump, thump, thump. Audiologists and hearing aid salesmen must see dollar signs and smile when they hear it.

I'm not a big fan of C&W but I do like Waylon Jennings & I came accross a CD of his greatest hits in my desk drawer a few days ago. Jennings actually had a sound of his own & doesn't sound like 50 other country artists out there these days.
Now I've done it. Off topic.
