Hamilton College receives $671,141 in grant money for new dorm equipmentWKTV, Today www.wktv.com/news/local/27598559.html(I think the KTV Kid doesn't understand the difference between the Dorm Authority (finances construction) and "dorm equipment.")"New York State Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman David Townsend announced that Hamilton College will receive $671,141 from the New York State Dormitory Authority for the purchase and installation of equipment at the Kirner-Johnson Building . The legislative grant award was administered through the New York State Dormitory Authority’s Higher Education Capital Matching Grant Program (HECap)." ### I thought private colleges were just that .... private. How many taxpayers, whose kids can't afford to go to Hamilton, contributed to this ?

Good point. When is this sort of crap going to end?

The public trough? Probably never, if we don't hold representatives accountable. If Griffo and Townsend were my reps, I'd immediately send them an email saying they had lost my vote. If I'm one of only a few who protest, so be it. I'm accountable for my vote.

C'mon, stop with the criticism. They need the money. It's not like Hamilton has an endowment worth half a billion dollars.
Oh, wait...
Heh.

Article VIII Section 1 of the State Constitution is being violated. It states
No county, city, town, village or school district shall give or loan any money or property to or in aid of any individual, or private corporation or association, or private undertaking . . . .

My hands are tied up with a new job, but someone who's willing to fight it, go ahead. I know there is litigation in Buffalo trying to stop similar grants.

Swimmy, you got a job? Do tell. Enquiring (and caring) minds want to know. And yeah, don't get me started with unaccountable authorities who need no bonding referendum to borrow money.

Hmmmm! New job? Hands tied?? What sort of job requires bondage Swimmy? I certainly hope you have not become a "boy toy" for any elderly female attorneys, haha. Sheesh, with the endurance of a swimmer, you could rocket to a partnership in no time at all, haha. (sorry, couldn't resist the chance to pick on you)

After Labor Day, I will be working in the Family Law Department for the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. I wish it was a boy toy for a hot cougar sugar momma. But i'm not that lucky. I did swim distance events, so stamina and endurance are my specialty

Oh well Swimmy. Maybe you can get a part time position in your off time, as a boy toy for a hot cougar sugar mamma, haha!
Just be careful. Would not want to read in the paper where a legal aid attorney was caught in the back seat of an old lady's lincoln, and charged with prostitution, hahaha! One must be discreet when moonlighting! Set an age limit, such as 50, and then make sure you don't do it on the first date. Must avoid scandal you know, LOL.

Good luck with the new job, Swimmy! You're doing a great service working at Legal Aid. My friend's kid (still living at home) works for a similar organization in Dallas. Lisa is representing some of the mothers who had their children taken from them in the Fundamental Latter Day Saints cult cases. When the state took the children, they shipped them to foster-care sites all over the state so Lisa is representing the ones who's kids are being held in the Dallas area. Her folks are extremely proud of her but wish, just a little bit, that she'd move out. They're running out of room for her fabulous shoe collection.
