Wish me luck. I am having a Urolift procedure done this morning. I am a bit apprehensive as anyone would be when going under a general anesthetic. It is a revolutionary procedure that involves going into your urinary tract with a scope and a tool that places stitches that pull the prostate away from the urethra to relieve the typical old man prostate problems.
It is not a terribly traumatic procedure but it takes about a half and hour or so and they keep you for an hour afterwards before you are allowed to leave with someone who came along to drive you home.
It requires a few days of no strenuous activity or lifting while the stitches heal.
Right now I am going nuts without my coffee, lol.

There's a local practice around here that runs ads on the teevee constantly for that procedure. It features a fire hose gushing water. Not making it up. Lol
Hope it goes well & is a success.

Clipper, please let us know how the Urolift suits you. There are more than one of us who will soon be needing some 'help' in the urinary department and your information will be invaluable to us. The alternative is a prostatectomy which wouldn't be my first choice if the Urolift is as effective as it's cracked up to be.

My brother had the procedure not too long ago. It was very successful and made a huge difference in relieving the symptoms. Very effective. In my case the doctor said it all looked good and the procedure went well. You pee quite a bit of blood the first day and they put a catheter in and send you home with a leg bag. The doctor said it would be painful for the first few days. He wasn't kidding. I feel like I am peeing razor blades. My brother said that lasted about 3 days or so, but after that he noted great results and is very happy he had it done.
I will keep you posted. I have to go back on Monday to have the catheter removed.

It turned into a painful 24 hours. The doctor receptionist hand wrote a prescription of Hydrocodone and the doctor didn't date it so they would not fill it. The give you a prescription for an heavy duty antibiotic also and one for pills to relieve the urinary pain specifically. I am waiting on a call from the doctor on call to see if I can take the damned catheter out. It is killing me. after all the rooting around up in there things are pretty sore and I was peeing blood until this afternoon (part of the normal process) Without the pain medication it is like peeing razor blades.
My brother said by the third day things had settled down and the swelling an pain had gone away. He noted a major improvement in relief of the symptoms.

I suppose that a certain amount of pain is expected for a few days following this type of surgery, but after that goes way, the results will hopefully be well worth it. I'm anxious to hear the benefits you note in the future. Thanks for your honesty in describing your after-procedure experience, Clipper.

I can hardly wait until Monday when I will see MY doctor to have the catheter removed. They told me if I had ANY problem over the weekend to call their service and the on-call urologist would address the issue immediately. I called the first time at 10 am yesterday. The service told me to all back in two hours if he had not answered the page and called me. I called every two hours all day and finally at 6:30 PM he called me. Every time I tried to talk or tell him what was going on he would say "let me talk, let me talk, let me talk." He carried on with that crap for about 10 minutes before finally telling me that it was now "MY turn to talk." He actually told me that it was nothing serious. The pain is caused by bladder spasms and that he would call in a prescription for something to relax the spasms. Unfortunately the pharmacy had closed and I can't get it until noon today. I bet it would be a lot more serious if it was HIS penis that was enduring a pain like I have never experienced, every five minutes or so for about 36 hours by the time he called me. When he called back to tell me that the pharmacy was closed I told him that I hope at some point in HIS life someone pushes a red hot poker up the end of HIS dick every five or 10 minutes for a 24 to 36 hour period. A totally rude asswipe with the bedside manner of a morgue attendant.

When I had my herniated disk about 20 yrs ago the only thing he would give me were muscle relaxers. I tossed them in the trash less then a week later because I didn't like the sensation of being on planet Mars. For 6 months I took 1000 mg's of over the counter Tylenol every day for 6 months when it finally healed with the help of phys. therapy. Lucky I still have a liver. You should find out where that Bozo parks & go let the air out of his tires. Lol

I landed in the hospital this morning. Started bleeding again and had to go to the ER. They gave me some blood and admitted me for IV antibiotics for an serious infection from the Foley catheter. It messes up my blood sugar so they are testing 4 times a day and giving insulin as is called for. I just got insulin, a shot of dilaudid for pain, and all my regular meds except for Eliquis. They stopped that until they control the bleeding.
I haven’t had blood sugar issues in several years. And have never been insulin dependent. Wish me luck.

I spent a night in hell. The spams got worse in intensity and took longer to recede. I am-sheerly exhausted. I am having spasm about every ten minutes or so. They gave me dilaudid every 4 hours all night and it barely touched the pain. Once again I didn’t get any restful sleep.
I literally don’t know how much longer I can tolerate it. My urologist is supposed to come in and address the problem before he goes to his office at 9am.
If you are a praying person please say a prayer for me. Much appreciated.

Clipper I also invoked a prayer for you. Sorry this mess happened. I wonder if you have any legal issues from this that would warrant a law suit.
