It was January of 2008 when the OD eliminated their chat forum. A forum that many of us were daily participants. On January 15th of 2008 I got the idea to create a forum of our own and Clipper's Busy Corner was born. My idea, but with my limited computer knowledge and skills, it was only through the hard work of Ralph to set the format under Proboards, to coordinate with me to set the rules. With the help of Dave Griffin, Kim Meyer, and other early members we got it off the ground and the membership soared quickly to hundreds of members. We had a coffee get together are Denny's in N. Utica that following Christmas and friendships were formed that last to this day. I still stay in touch with Bobbiez, Country Gal, Clarence Bunsen, Fiona, Concerned (who has since changed screen names), Chris, Kit, and many many more who have been here since the beginning. In the summer of 2009 Francor, Bobbiez, Dave, and myself put together a meet and greet picnic at Lake Delta State Park and many more friendships were formed, even though we huddled under the pavilion while it steadily drizzled rain most of the afternoon.
Dave Griffin, Jon Hynes, and Fiona were instrumental in bringing interesting threads and topics to the table and spent many hours posting about local history, the Olbiston, and other items of interest. Dave, Jon, and others brought together the Utica Entertainment History and all the memories they had of bands they played in. Along the way, in May of 2009 Clarence Bunsen started posting a daily pun. We still enjoy the daily puns and there has now been 363 full pages of puns. Thank you CB.
The membership is listed at 483, but many of those members no longer post, and many don't log in as members but read what they can access as guests.
To those of you who still actively post and follow the forum, I want to thank you for keeping it alive. I hope that the forum will still be here next year at this time and that membership and participation will pick up along the way. I hope that 2023 brings us all hope, good health, and abundant happiness.
