I was browsing around and found some pretty sound advice for fishermen from Mad Magazine. Mad Magazine? Why sure. Their advice is probably just as sound as some other sources at the present time.
Their advice to a fisherman was this: If you catch a mermaid, throw her back. There is not enough woman to make love to, and way too much fish to fry.
