I love my cold salads. For lunch today I built a masterpiece that left Kathy shaking her head and laughing at me. I started with fresh greens, added cherry tomatoes, English cucumber, imported Kalamata olives, left over polish sausage cut into cubes, a few pickled Italian pepperoncini pepper slices, cubed pepperjack cheese, garlic/parmesan croutons, and bottled rasberry vinaigrette.
She makes fun of my Italian cut green beans with bacon bits, oregano, and Italian dressing, and really laughed at me when I took cold leftover macaroni goulash, added a few florets of blanched broccoli to it along with some Olive Garden Italian dressing and enjoyed an off the wall pasta salad.
If it is leftover it is in danger of landing in my salad bowl. I have diced up leftover steak, or a left over porkchop, A favorite lunch from my teen years is iceberg lettuce with a can of solid tuna crumbled over it, tossed with a little Helman's.

When we go to Perkin's after bowling I always order either a honey mustard chicken crunch entree salad with deep fried pieces of chicken tender, or their Southwest avocado salad with grilled chicken, black beans, grilled corn, greens and avocado slices. I toss the avocado. The only way I eat avocado is in guacamole. Our favorite Mexican joint makes the guac right at your table with a large mortar and pestle. Avocado, cilantro, a clove or so of garlic, and smashed Mexican chilis, and fresh squeezed lime juice. It is a portion big enough for a table of four to dip chips in, but I have been known to order an order for myself with a big basket of tortilla chips as a meal. When we have eaten lunch at the casino I always order their Cobb salad. It is huge and only $14. I might actually lose weight if not for my desire to eat a large farmer's breakfast with meat, 3 eggs, hashbrowns and toast. In the evening we often have a dish of ice cream or a big bowl of popcorn. Kathy is a good cook and a sweets freak. There are always cookies or a pie or a cake to tempt me. Between meal and evening snacks are my downfall.
