Dogpatch County executive Tony Picente has announced that the county gas tax that was suspended last spring will be reinstated this Wednesday. Picente stated that the county needs the money to run programs so back on it goes. Dogpatch C.E. also stated that drivers won't see that much of a difference in the price of a gallon. Oh yea? Think driver's can't see the price on a pump? How the hell does he know anyway? If drivers won't see a difference then why reinstate it? Dogpatch County has a budget surplus of millions of dollars, has the highest sales tax rate in the country & hasen't cut property taxes for residents in 20 years but they're now back to reaching deeper into our pockets with the gas tax.
Tomorrow I'll be heading to b'js to top off my truck which has half a tank in it. If I can beat Dogpatch County U.S.A. out of a few cents it'll be worth it. Oh, but wait. I won't notice the savings, right?

I would probably be stubborn enough to drive to Frankfort to get gas in Herkimer County, biting off my nose to spite my face.

Yes, Dogpatch County needs money to operate "programs". Like the " program" the county is running that C.E. Picente is always on the radio pushing. Here's how it works. The County has bags that they're giving away to residents who want to rid themselves of unwanted medication. So when you get the free bag from Dogpatch County, just toss your unwanted meds in that bag then toss that bag into your trash receptacle which like most people, holds a bag. Then when the day comes when the trash people are coming you take the bag out of the trash receptacle that contains the bag you got from the county then put that bag in the trash bag like Utica has that you just paid $1.85 for & take the whole shebang to the curb so the trash guy can take it to the dump in Ava. Works out good.
That's just one of the "programs" that C.E. Picente needs money for to keep Dogpatch County U.S.A. humming along

We don't have to have a special bag to dispose of unwanted or expired drugs. Most police agencies here have receptacles in their lobby to drop your drugs into. Much like a corner mailbox with a door where you place your bag of medications and when you let go of the door it drops into the bottom, just like a corner mailbox. WTH! They want you to dispose of them safely, and not just throw them in the trash or flush them, and yet they want to charge you for that round-about trip to the dump in a special bag. there are a lot of things I miss about living in upstate NY. Mainly the lakes, fishing, and camping, but certainly not the politics and taxes and government reaching into our wallets every day.

I don't remember ever having expired meds. Of course, I have a live in RN who insists that I take every medication on time.

Same with me, CB. When my doctor prescribes a medication, I take it... not throw it away. It doesn't have time to expire.

I take only two meds for cholesterol & HBP, which seems to go up whenever I hear of the nonsense like the free bags for expired meds. . My meds have never expired & if they did they'd go in the trash. But I do agree with discouraging people from flushing them as they can contaminate lakes & streams which is a huge problem.

I don't recall ever having any of MY meds expire, but when my mom died I had a kitchen cabinet pharmacy at their house to dispose of, and again when my dad went into the nursing home I had probably a dozen bottles of his medications had to be disposed of.
Other than cases such as that, I have to wonder why anyone would not take all the medication prescribed by the doctor. I guess I have always assumed that if they give me a medication and it is to be taken twice a day for 7 days, that is what I am supposed to do. Duh!

They no longer pick up paper in plastic bags unless it's shredded. So........Paco loves to shred up rolled up papers.........a lot of them. We sweep the "shredded paper off the floor and put it in a plastic bag and out with the recycling, that we pay to have picked up. They didn't pick it up last week. I guess because instead of machine shredded, it's parrot shredded.
Go figure. We'll try again next week.

We have one who actually cares whether we remain a customer. Today our cans were put in the ditch so they wouldn't blow into the neighbors' yard. Usually, they are very neatly lined up at the edge of the driveway so a car could drive past if necessary. Waste Management never cared if we stayed with them or not.

Has the price of gas dropped significantly in CNY? It has dropped 20 cents a gallon in 5 days here to $3.09. I just bought gas for $2.94 with my shopper's card discount. First time I have paid less than $3 in a while. The darned gas price goes up and down like a yoyo lately around here. Every time there is a big blurb on TV about lower gas prices, they go back up to where they were or higher. I guess we have to buy when it's low and before it goes back up.
