500nations.com/casinos/va-bristol-casino.aspThe activity and business that the temporary casino has brought to the area has already been of benefit to local businesses, and the revenue that goes back into the local coffers is a life saver for Bristol Va. taxpayers who have been paying for the failed ventures that their city council subjected them to. Hotels and restaurants have seen a noticeable uptick in business, as have other downtown merchants. The traffic is noticeably heavier coming off the interstate at that exit and in that area of town. Bristol has always done well economically during several periods of the year, including the Rhythm and Roots weeklong music festival that celebrates Bristol's roots as the birthplace of country music, two major NASCAR race weekends a year, as well as several NHRA sanctioned drag racing events at Thunder Valley Dragway. This area thrives on tourism so the casino and resort will certainly draw people not only to the casino, but also to the other attractions available here. Check out the link, artist renderings, and photos. People are excited at the prospect of having a major concert venue and convention center coming.

The County Executive has talked of having a casino in the area of the new Nexus Center. That and a Beer Museum. I haven't heard anything about either in several months.

Someone should inform Picente that there's already a beer museum in west Utica called West End Brewing Co. But when you live in Dogpatch County, a C.E. thinks we need a craft beer museum even though craft beer brewing is now a fad that set sail a long time ago. But we'll still get a "Craft Beer Museum" whatever that is.

It will probably be a museum where you can go look at all the different craft beers and bottles and possibly get a sip or two for the insane price they will probably charge for admission. Go on the brewery tour for free and get tickets for two free full-size drafts at the end of the tour.
