Are you trying to imply something? I'm familiar with that story. The property damage that family has sustained thanks to Whitestown's incompetence and desire to be like New Hartford when it comes to politics is disgusting.

I know Bob and his family also. If he states (in any manner) that he's being hosed and mistreated then you can believe it is the truth.

Hello... It's the Ross' here, we are the family who posted the ad on the OD and published the website therosscause.com. Thanks for the heartfelt show of support! In all honestly, it has been a mind-numbing and saddening experience to see the level of corruption at the Town of Whitestown and Village of Yorkville. The Ross family is simply a long-standing, law-abiding, tax-paying family who is just trying to get the problem fixed. It should not be this difficult. www.therosscause.com

The property damage that family has sustained thanks to Whitestown's incompetence and desire to be like New Hartford when it comes to politics is disgusting. What I was implying was that a banner ad must cost a good deal at the OD, unless someone there is helping them with their cause and cutting them some slack on it.

Well, I can see from where you were coming from WestmoGuy, but these are good people in a tough spot due to governing persona that simply pass the buck and ignore the problem. Regardless of what the OD is chargin' ... I'd like to think that people knowing the situation would be willing to kick in to help the Ross family.
Now -- far as that other case in New Hartford, that poor woman is getting the run around to some extent. My opinion is that the officer(s) involved should be placed on administrative leave to clear this up. Too much lip-service going on.
Stalker(s)? Heh, heh... I have my own online 'fan' club of them. So I feel for what this woman is going through. Sadder still that so many responding locals (assuming that they all are locals) ... felt that had to respond using the "Anonymous" reply. Better than no reply at all, I guess. Hats off to New Hartford, N.Y. Online for exposing and covering this all!

Dont get me wrong, I can imagine their headaches, trust me.
Sadly, sounds like Whitestown Govt. is headed the same direction that New Hartford's is.....INACTION

Yup. Complacency and lack of imagination is killing the human condition. Then again, maybe it is corrupt natures in people on a base level and too much 'free' time. I'm not sure.

Hi Westmogov, our family paid for it out of pocket. We didn't get any financial help from anyone (though we have had some awesome support and guidance from a few key contacts on other blogs and sites . We tried to negotiate w/ the OD but they wouldn't play.

We tried to negotiate w/ the OD but they wouldn't play. That's interesting. How did you attempt to negotiate? What was it you offered in exchange for a discount?

Hell, don't wait for a discount at the OD. I was working there when Kathy's dad died. I was living with Kathy and he was like my own father. They told me that because we were not married, I could not get a discount. If they don't discount an obit for an employee unless you show a marriage license, and pictures of you with the deceased, the cheap bastards aren't going to discount a large and profitable piece like what the Ross family published.
Rest assured though. If you are an employee when you croak, they will put your obit in the paper for free. At least they used to. You may have to have a note from your doctor now, stating that you are dead, and not coming to work anymore!
That is why I quit. I could not get more money for my underpaid help, and they kept adding extra work. The gas prices were going up and and the contractors and bundle delivery drivers were still getting next to nothing for pay. They finally came across with an insulting fuel supplement for the contractors that used their own trucks, but it was an insult.
I had men working in all kinds of weather, working in the middle of the night, busting their asses and getting paid $6.35 per hour. The OD is a cheap ass sweatshop, and they grip every penny until lincolns ears pop!
Donna and the company comptroller used to drive company cars and burn company gas. The mechanic that maintained my transportation department vans spent half his workday running around with those two vehicles, getting them washed and filling donna's gas tank at the station in N Utica. Yet they bitched about the cost of maintaining the vans, and paying drivers.

wellllll....... ... here's the uber-short version, and if you need details please PM me and I'll explain. We were interested in the OD banner ads, so once we got pricing, I asked the OD for movement on the pricing. We were offered a combo peel ad w/ a banner ad, but no price break on the banner only. Frankly I don't even notice the peel back ads so we ended up paying full price for the banner. there's more but I can't say publicly
