I hope that Utica stays out of the path of most of the lake effect snow. Buffalo area is going to be days digging out. When there is over 5 feet of snow in a parking lot or on a wide street or highway, where can it be pushed to and can a normal plow even begin to handle it? This storm isn't just a snow emergency. It is bordering on a catastrophic event. Photos on our news this morning show the heavy wet snow piled high on roofs. How long before roof collapses become widespread. especially on businesses with flat roofs. Buffalo area is always able to handle snowfalls of 3 feet, but this storm is dumping more than twice that much.
No snow here yet. Snow in the mountains around us but just cold weather here. "Cold" here is when it stays in the 40's. Today is sunny and bright but only going to 40 and a breeze blowing. I am heading out to pick up a few things from Sam's Club, and I am going to light the fire in woodstove before I go. I laid a fire in there yesterday with some good size chunks of oak and ash that will burn nice and hot. It should be nice and toasty by the time I get back so I can head out there to stay busy puttering for the afternoon.
Have a good day and stay safe and warm.

What we are seeing on TV is unreal. I am glad we didn't try to drive from here to Lansing MI yesterday. We have no snow on my driveway and a couple hours away people are worrying about roof collapse.

We are to get the lake effect here in Mohawk Valley and depending of the wind speed and direction we in Utica area could get anywhere from one foot to 2 feet of snow. I hope not.

Just be thankful we dont live in Buffalo. In 2014 they had almost the same type of storm at the same time. Need to plan to be on a beach for then

I am no longer a fan of the cold and snow of winter. I hate dressing up in a coat and hat and scarf and gloves to go out. It is a Bah Humbug for sure.
