A quote from a lifelong native upstate NY friend from Whitesboro.
"The Governor of New York has been recorded/videoed saying at a conference “if YOU are not Democratic You Need to leave NY, you are not a New Yorker, you are not welcome in NY !!!! “. I am not Democrat or Republican. I am registered as independent. I am an independent thinker, who tries to research every candidate, proposal. I do not vote across the board one party. I have friends /family both parties and I respect their opinion regardless of their respecting mine. HOWEVER, When a leader like Clinton and Governor Kathy speak like they have they are not the kind of leaders I want. If you have any kind of decency toward your fellow AMERICANS for their safety, livelihood and have a love of country including all walks of life. I mean every single NEW YORKER, gay, straight, transgender, white, black, orange or green, WHATEVER YOU WORSHIP, this woman can not possibly represent YOU and she sure does not represent my way of thinking. God bless all of us and God bless the USA.
I am livid she spoke like this. I watched her 10 different times. What is wrong with people. Lord have Mercy.
If it is true that Kathy Hochul said that I would say that you are in big trouble if she is re-elected. A bit of a contradiction from the bill board ads that were erected in Florida, encouraging folks to move to NY State.
Sounds like one more reason for people to put NY State in the rear view mirror. Population goes down, and taxes go up. NY politics has been corrupt for as long as I can remember, but it seems a bit extreme and out of control when a democratic governor encourages anyone with a different political view to leave the state and for anyone but a democrat to stay away.
Time for a republican or independent candidate to oust the present democrat administration and bring a bit of a positive breath of fresh air and new ideas to Albany. An upstate candidate would probably be in order but that will most likely not happen with the number of democratic downstate voters.
I truly love upstate NY but it was politics, cost of living, and taxes that drove us South when we retired.
I would be interested to know how those of you still residing there feel about your governor and the state of the state under her leadership. What is Zeldin all about? I know nothing about him or HIS agenda. Would he be an improvement over Cuomo and Hochul?

From what I researched Hochul was referring to Trump, Marc Molinaro & Lee Zeldin. Trump can move to Paraguay for all I care & the other two can go right along with him if they still support that disgraced pile of excrement.

Lee Zeldin has now pulled ahead of Hockel from sources I read. I am hoping for Zeldin to win Governorship.

Too close to call. I may have voted for Zeldin but not now after he sidestepped a question about Trump, who a traitor who tried to overturn the election & interfere with the transfer of power. Trump is a menace to our way of life as a democracy & the reason he's still a threat is because Republicans like Zeldin don't have the backbone to stand up to him.
Any Republican who excuses trump's behaviour & criminality deserves to be kicked out of office.

Her remarks were not aimed specifically at Trump. She made it quite clear that they were aimed at ANY conservative republican or anyone from the South that didn't agree with, or was a threat to her sick liberal bullshit or anyone wanting to bring conservative views to the table. NY democrats live in deathly fear of the prospect of a qualified conservative republican throwing a wrench in the gears of their corrupt political machine.
Many of us supported Trump's agenda and his accomplishments, yet DON'T support his behavior and actions since he lost the election. My hope is that there are enough of us non-Trump supporting republicans to bring back an honest candidate that would win a primary against Trump and put a stop to the negative and disastrous crap that Biden has pushed through. The impending diesel fuel shortage probably would not be occurring if Biden hadn't destroyed domestic production with his with his rush to have us all driving a Prius and heating our home with solar and electric. I am hoping and praying that I can celebrate the dethroning of Nancy Pelosi and her minions after the midterms.

If Dems retain the House which is doubtfull at least we won't have to worry about SS & Medicare being ripped out from under us which is the plan McCarthy & his goons want to do & they've already alluded to their plan but people aren't paying attention. So yea, let's turn the health of the U.S. economy over to the likes of halfwits like MTG & that bimbo from Colorado, Boebert. If they get their way they'll raise the retirement age to 70 or higher so that people die or don't live long enough to be a "burden" & collect SS & Medicare for only a few short years if at all. Trump & his mob are still pi**ed at McCain for denying them the chance to rip health insurance away from 30 million people. But ye, let't put them back in the majority because inflation is high here in the U.S. along with Europe in it's entirety.

SS does need to be addressed, the current plan is to just ignore the problem.

I agree CB. However cruel and selfish it may sound, I personally think our government should insure that the program remains solvent even if it becomes necessary for government to subsidize it before we send unending foreign aid to other countries, or fund the support for undocumented immigrants that are flooding the country. It seems that programs for them sees them receiving benefits at a level that exceeds the level of a middle class working American family in some cases. We have a problem with legal citizens and veterans finding themselves homeless and while they eat from dumpsters and sleep in tents, shelters, or under bridges, immigrants are receiving free health care, housing, food, and other support.
Government needs to deal with the issue and insure that elderly retired Americans that worked all their lives are secure in knowing that the SS program will remain viable and the checks will continue to come every month. They have borrowed from the fund and never paid any of it back. Time for them to pay the fiddler.

The one statement I disagree with is that funds have been borrowed and not paid back. From the time it was started (1933) the law has been that any funds in excess of current need would be invested in US treasury bonds. These bonds have always been paid back with interest. One thing the US government has never done (yet) is default on a bond payment.
It is easy to understand why that choice was made. At the time we had just gone through the worst stock market crash ever and a wave of bank failures.
Another thing to understand is that SS is not like an IRA. You are not paying money into an account with "your name on it." The money that you paid went to pay your father and his generation. The money we get comes from what our kids are paying now. The only time that changed was when Regan and O'Neil made their deal in the 80's to allow a fund build up, in effect making baby boomers to partially fund their own retirement.
There is no money which was borrowed and not paid back. However, for the past 20-30 we have allowed our politicians to ignore reality. Boomers have retired and the fund build-up has been drawn down. SS will go back to a pay as you go plan. There is another bulge coming and we are not planning for it.

I pray I am dead before SS cuts away on what I get. It would be horrendous.

I pray I am dead before SS cuts away on what I get. It would be horrendous. There are a lot of people in this Country, some spoiled trust fund brats who are against SS & don't want to pay taxes to fund it & Medicare also. A few of them are in Congress who don't need it & don't care about those that do. Then we have the me first crowd who think they're better then others & look down their noses at working people & think screw them. Guess what party they belong to? The election is less then two weeks away & it looks like the above are going to win the day & the future of our economy may very well be in the hands of people like MTG & Herschel Walker even though neither one of them have enough brains to balance a checking account.

Everybody read that Nancy pelosi husband Paul was violently attacked at home in San Francisco and the person who did it yelled our Where is Nancy Where is Nancy! That is two attacks for political reasons. This is getting dangerous and people take politica way to seriously. Has to stop before we lose Democracy and Socialism takes hold of the Country. Our flag will then change to a large red colored flag with a oval black dot in center.

When you have people like Trump inciting violence against his oponents something like this was bound to happen. There were cops beaten to within an inch of their life on 1/6 & people like Gym Jordan & Leningrad Lindsey still support Trump who was responsible for what happened along with his goons like Roger Stone & Rudy. We have another 2 years of being a Democratic Republic & then it's all over, unless Trump is finally put in prison where he belongs.
