We probably won't. We used to enjoy handing out candy on Halloween to the neighborhood kids, but not sure if we want to this year. Every year we hear about some sicko spiking candy with some substance or sticking pins in apples etc. Now they're making fentanyl tablets which look exactly like Skittles. If I was a parent in this day & age no way would I allow my kids to go out on Halloween. It's a damn shame.

Barb already has Halloween decorations out, so I assume we are. Most of my grandkids are too old for trick or treating. Only one still in elementary school.

We all used to go door to door, covering whole neighborhoods and it was relatively safe. Now the only way for your kids to trick or treat is to take them only to people you know, to trunk or treat events held by police departments, or around here all the churches hold Halloween parties and parking lot trunk or treat.
We are in a semi-rural neighborhood although it is slowly building up around us. the houses are a bit far apart for kids to go from house to house. One neighbor has two little girls on one side of us, on the other side the neighbor has one granddaughter 5 or 6 yrs old. Up a long driveway to the house behind us there are two more kids. A boy about 10 and a little girl about 6.
We have never had kids come to the door prior to those families moving in. We always buy a few bags of assorted candy, some dollar store Halloween trick or treat bags, and we fill them with candy and little ziploc bags of home made cookies that Kathy makes for them to come and get. We get to see their costumes and they get the candy. We both win. (Kathy for some reason always buys too much candy to fit in the bags and somehow always has a surplus of her favorites left over. Hmmm.)
Kids now don't know what they are missing. We used to get home made cookies, popcorn balls, home made caramel or candy apples, and fruit. When we lived in a sub-division we ended up with a half a pillow case or shopping bag full of goodies.

We won't be, haven't been for a number of years. I am usually at work, and it's too hard for Betty to get down the stairs anymore. Besides, here in da hood, everyday is Trick or Treat.

In your neighborhood Betty is better off sitting at the table upstairs, well armed and with thedoors locked.

I was thinking of renting a headless man costume to scare the bejeesus out of the neighborhood kids but probably won't.

We are having a Halloween party here at the complex and Halloween outfits can be worn if you want. They are also getting ready for xmas for a party and the ladies want the hallways decorated like main street ( whatever that means) I am not a big fan of either of these things but I have already been asked to come to the halloween party and dress up. I really do not want to. So now I have to come up with a costume or something of other. I may show up as Pan the Greek god of fertility!!!!! That will knock their socks off. Or maybe Svengoolie! I did that once.
