That's good. You are pretty vulnerable with all the traveling about the area on the bus that you do. There are just far too many scumbags and wackadoodles out there now. I seldom carry my pistol but if we go downtown to eat dinner or shop in the evening I tuck it in my waist band. We recently went downtown for pizza at local restaurant. The homeless, the panhandlers, and the druggies all seem to come out at dusk like cockroaches in the downtown area.
Kroger's has become a hangout for the homeless. The other night I went there after dark to pick up a couple of things. There is a bench in front of the store at the bus stop. every time we stop there at night there is a group of about 4 or 5 homeless hanging there with their backpacks and although homeless and supposedly destitute, they all had cell phones and actually had an extension cord plugged into a wall plug so that three of them could all charge their phones while loitering and begging. I don't have a lot of sympathy for anyone that doesn't have enough money to eat but has a smart phone to play with. The busses had stopped running for the night, but I had to walk past them. I am just surprised that Kroger allows them to loiter and charge their phones right outside the entrance and next to the video rental and soda vending machines. I certainly would not care to take out a credit card to stick in the Redbox movie rental machine.

I've hard there's been quite a few muggings at Hannaford's on Mohawk St. Don't know how true it is as I've seen nothing in the news about it. But I don't doubt it considering the neighborhood & the riff raff around that area. I do the shopping in the morning before the mob is out & I carry bear spray in my pocket & a baseball bat in my truck but I seldom go out at night. By sundown I'm in the recliner. The wife also has a can of bear spray that I picked up at Runnings in Rome. She carries it with her when she walks our dog because there's a few idiots around here who don't leash their dogs or they're careless & they get out. I've seen women more then once leave their purses in their shopping cart & browse the aisle & I've told more then one that they're going to lose it. Especially in N.Utica WM. They're just being absent minded I guess.

I saw a humorous case of leaving a purse unattended at Sam's Club a couple years ago. A woman left her little one in a shopping cart parked while she was browsing through a table full of books. While she was distracted the kid was taking everything out of her purse and throwing it on the floor. I was cracking up. I said excuse me mam, but is that your cart and young'n and pointed to the cart. The look on her face was priceless. The little one was just grinning and having a good old time.

I have seen the same thing women leaving purse in cart and walking away to grab some items off the shelves and I have mentioned to them how dangerous that it cause any idiot can grab and run with it.
A few years ago I was shopping at WM North Utica and was in the condiment isle and I did have several items in my cart well I walked up the isle to grab some mayo but left the cart at entrance to isle. I turned around and my cart was gone. I searched each isle to find the crazy thing then found some older guy with it. I said excuse me sir but that is my cart. He said I only needed to borrow it and was going to return it since there are no more carts left inside. I felt like hitting the guy but just took his stuff out which was not much he could have carried it and walked away. Crazy.....

I have heard about people leaving their cart outside the restrooms and when they came out someone had grabbed the wrong cart and left them with a cart containing someone elses items.

I like the smaller carts at WM. The ones where you need a 4 ft crowbar to break apart.

I like the smaller carts at WM. The ones where you need a 4 ft crowbar to break apart. Probably because the cart wrangler rams them together at about 40 mph when he brings them in from the parking lot.

Yesterday I had to go to Walmarts. (They have the cheapest price for TP) i was in line waiting to check out. I was standing there at least a good ten minutes when this black woman cut into the line. So I asked her if she was cutting in line. Well she got into my face and started yelling and said she was ahead of me and to back off. Well at that point I decided to let her have her way cause I realized I was dealing with a nut case. Better to be alive then to be right. Ive been learning to bite my tongue ever since Covid. This is what we must deal with in this day and age. I do my shopping at Wegmans most of the time and one thing for sure this would not have occured in Wegmans. Why did I go into that stupid Walmarts. I hate that store. It has a reputation for being the worse one in Rottenchester.

Most blacks have some serious mental health issues from what I observe based on how they react with others. I think most enjoy being annoying. Best to ignore them or escalate the situation by involving the store manager which most likely involve the police and you know blacks are not going to listen to police because they feel they pick on blacks so situation will escalate even further ending in a shooting and she would be dead. Problem eliminated, period.

Black, white, or purple. Walmart is home to the lowest dregs of society mixed in with the honest working middle class family. We have two Walmart stores in this area. The one on the Tennessee side of town is rather isolated on a hill off the highway and not somewhere I would go after dark. There have been carjackings, muggings, car break-ins, vandalized cars, and a murder in that parking lot. Recently some teenagers thought it entertaining to walk down a couple aisles in the parking lot, spraying a stripe of spray paint across the rear of cars as they walked. Something like 20+ cars were affected. A citizen saw them doing it, followed them out of the parking lot and followed them while on the cell phone with police until a cruiser caught up and stopped them.
The second is in a busy shopping area, surrounded by Sam's Club, several other retail outlets, and numerous fast food and chain restaurants. Better lit and busier, but home to the after dark weirdos, addicts, pan handlers, and so many shop lifters that there is frequently a police cruiser parked in front of the store. They even have a little office just inside the door on the grocery side of the store pretty much dedicated to a holding room where security take shoplifters while waiting for a cop to place them under arrest. Recently I read a call log that was published in the paper and I couldn't believe how many times in a day police are dispatched to that store.
Unless it is an extreme bargain or an item that I can't find somewhere else, I avoid Walmart like the plague.

For the life of me I can't figure out the attraction of WM. Their meat sucks as it's shipped froze then thawed for purchase, customer service is a joke & their prices for the most part are no cheaper then anywhere else & if they are it's only pennies. The other half bought a bag of apples in there the other day & they tasted like they were picked a month ago which they probably were. I won't set foot in any WM past 10 a.m. & I don't frequent the place anyway.

We commonly refer to the last hour from 10 - 11 as the "Freek, Geek & Tweaker Hour".
