We stopped at a local Walgreen's today and Kathy got her Pfizer booster of the new vaccine. So far no reaction other than a bit of a sore arm. With her other health issues I just pray she doesn't have any more severe side effects that make her feel miserable like I did with the Moderna.
They take walk-ins and the gal that gave her the injection said that she had vaccinated about 20 people today and we were there at 3pm. I hope that the claim that it will prevent the later variants or lessen their severity will prompt more people to go out and take the jab.
Numbers are dropping here even with the kids back in school. That is hard to believe but it was reported by the county health department yesterday.

I will probably get mine during the late September - early October timeframe. There don't seem to be any supply issues and that timing will hopefully match the peak of my antibody response with the peak of the respiratory system. Now the question: do I get Covid and flu in the same arm or one in each arm?

Haven't had the booster yet but I will soon. I also need the flu shot but I think I'll wait a few days after I get the booster. I don't like the idea of combining vaccines, but I could be wrong.

Now the question: do I get Covid and flu in the same arm or one in each arm? I guess it depends on whether you want two mildly sore arms for one VERY sore arm, lol. Kathy says her arm is just tender to the touch but nothing serious or debilitating with normal movement. BHU, I think it wise to get one shot and wait a week or so to have the other. I felt so crappy for a period of time after the covid booster that I am quite glad I didn't get both vaccines at the same time. It seems to me that if a person feels lousy due to the natural increased immune response to one vaccine taking two vaccines at the same time would really evoke a more rigorous reaction and make a person feel doubly miserable. |

Exactly. I have an appt. Monday at RiteAid for the booster. They wanted to know the date when I had the first booster, like I'm supposed to remember that. I got it at RiteAid, they gave me no card & why don't THEY have a record of it. I made up a date. |

I don't know why they didn't annotate your vaccine card. They annotated Kathy's booster yesterday on her card. ASK them to record it on your card. MY card is running out of space with some of the shots being annotated with a rubber stamp and initials for the shots I have gotten at the VA. I guess going forward we will all end up with Volume I, Volume II, etc, haha.

I always get the flu shot mid October & that's what I'll do this year. I have too much to do around here without having both arms sore as hell from vaccines for 2-3 days. Lol

We have cards for our COVID shots. Probably a good thing since the provider has changed. The first shots were provided by the state of NY. They were done at the gym on the SUNY campus. Walgreens does have a pretty good data base. I know from personal experience that if you get a prescription filled at a Walgreens in Florida, the one in NH can access the records.

Just one of the many things I like about Walgreens. Once when Kathy was in Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston Salem for back surgery I forgot to pack my medications and pill organizer. I went to a local Walgreens there and they simply got in touch with our local store here in Bristol and within a half hour or so they gave me an emergency partial fill of all my prescriptions. When Kathy had her booster the other day a Walgreens they required her to show her vaccination card and they updated it with her booster before they returned her card. It was encouraging to see and hear of so many people taking advantage of the new bi-valent vaccines.

Kathy has begun to see some side effects. She is running a low grade fever, fatigued, and injection site is pretty sore and red. I hope she gets feeling better with the advised Tylenol, fluids and rest.

The good news is that means her anti-body germ fighters are kicking in, to attack the virus fragment in the vaccine. Some should still be around if she encounters a real virus.

She ran the low grade fever for a while yesterday and felt lousy. She took Tylenol. Fever was gone by late last night and this morning she feels much better except for the sore spot and knot at the injection site. |

I'll get my booster at work when we get the new Pfizer vaccine, probably get the flu shot there as well, though not at the same time.
A couple years ago I had my pneumonia shot at the same time I had my flu shot, didn't settle well and had the chills and fever for the night, which for me is pretty strange.
