What a fantastic place. I haven't been in there since way back maybe 20 years ago and totally forgot what it looked like. Now that place is a meat market and so much more. I bought a kielbasi that totalled $17.00 it wells for $9,99/lb. I will cut it up and freese most of it. I guess all I have to do is boil it till it is heated through. I said to the girl that waited on me that I will be back for sure. Glad I still have enough in my SNAP account. I want to try there Golumpki. Fir $7.99 you get two nice sided rolls. I do not have the patience to make them homemade.LOL Place even smells great as does the corner that I was waiting for return Bus.

I dont know if they still have them but I used to buy their "snack sticks." They were smoked meat and were about 5 inches or so long. Great snacks to carry in your pocket on your expeditions. I used to carry them hunting or fishing. They looked like a small Slim Jim. I also used to buy Krakowska ( A dried sausage that requires no refrigeration) It has garlic, black pepper, coriander and allspice. Good stuff. I had to google it to get the ingredients. Sort of like a Polish hard salami. I used to put it on a grilled cheese sandwich. The Polish sandwich loaf is also good. I could spend a hundred bucks in there if given the chance. In fact we usually DO spend almost that much when we load up to go home to Tennessee. We also spend about that much at Chanatry's on Italian sausage and Hoffman''s hot dogs. It sounds like a lot of money, but we can't get those things here and what we buy lasts us for a long time.

Nothing wrong with that.

Is the bakery still a couple of doors up Lenox or is it gone now? They always had great rye bread. Nothing like a kielbasa sandwich or fresh rye bread.
We used to love Tony Sparagna's for dinner also, but stopped going there unless we could park right in front of the restaurant. No way would I walk in that neighborhood after dark anymore unless I was armed and wearing a vest. We drove by there a couple of times and kept on going because of the weirdos hanging on the sidewalks up and down Lenox.

I used to stop a Pulaski on occssion but it's been a while. We don't eat a lot of bologne but their's the best.
That whole area is a war zone. Just last night someone got plugged on Oswego St. & Sunset Ave.

I loved their Bologna. Haven't bought any in years. Believe it or not the Food Lion stores have a store brand German bologna that is delicious and much like Pulaski's. I buy a pound every time I am in Johnson City for an appointment at the VA.
I was disappointed when they closed the store here in Bristol. I think Food City drove them out. Food City has 146 stores here in the Southeast and are building more every year. They have branched out and are now building Ace Hardware stores. It is family and employee owned. they have FOUR stores right here in Bristol and every one of them is busy.
I checked out one of their new Ace Hardware stores when they first opened here in Bristol. It is a nice store, but pricey and pretty much like a mini-Lowe's minus the lumber.

I think the only Ace Hardware left in the area is in Rome. I've only been in it a couple times. It's a bit out of the way for me.

The kielbasa was delicious I had it with Coleman's mustard and rye bread and for a salad I made a fresh green bean salad with garlic and oregano and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. While I was eating this I remembered an evening in the summer when I and another local seminarian were invited to the rectory of Father Hapanowicz to view his vacation slides of a trip in Italy and Poland. He made kielbasa for all of us to snack on while viewing and listening to his fantastic presentation....Funny how certain things bring back memories. I guess what that is all about is resting in eternity. Eternal memory for Father so as to keep him always alive. That gift from the Christ......

I haven't had a green bean salad such as you describe since my mom passed away in 2004. She made it often. She also made a great 3 bean salad with a rather sweet version of a vinegarette. I will have to have Kathy make some of the garlic and oregano version with some of our genuine aged balsamic. It is supposedly aged for 10 yrs. Nothing compares to a tasty balsamic glaze on halved Brussel sprouts, roasted in the air fryer with a bit of minced garlic. We are fortunate to have a store here that specializes in authentic imported olive oils and balsamic vinegars. For just the two of us the sweet 3 bean recipe makes too much. We buy that in a glass jar at Kroger's occasionally at Kroger's. I haven't had that in a long time either.
